The overdue Porsche IG post! Typical experience of a used Cayenne owner apparently…four months in and deep in the rabbit hole of: Rennlist forums, YouTube DIY, FB Groups, FB Marketplace, lurking for used winter wheels and compatible TPMS sensors, buying special parts like the security lug nut to remove the wheels, a missing sway bar bolt, a battery tender for the winter, replacing the battery under the driver’s seat (?!?), replacing the PDCC cables and the camshaft solenoids for the CEL, installing a retrofit CarPlay box, getting a paint correction and ceramic coating. Oh and replacing all the faded badges. All sorted (for now) and finally been ripping it around town in the snow and soon the mud! ilysm, Diva 🙃

“To live is to suffer; to survive is to find some meaning in the suffering.”

Long train of thought incoming: It feels like I’m at that age where a death in the family is just as common as a friend or loved one giving birth to a child. Just last week, my Lola went to sleep for the last time. She would have turned 91 tomorrow.

She was a fierce woman who lived a full life without regrets, she had so much love to give, and yet she was still overcome with depression in the few months leading up to her passing. At her funeral, the family wore green ribbon pins for mental health awareness.

For me, depression and close encounters with death are realities I’ve faced before. It’s a hole to fall into, some deeper than others, and if/when you come out, you see the world differently. It sucks, full stop.

The sadness is essential I’ve learned, and death too an inescapable facet of the human condition, so I try to welcome and respect them just the same as I do with pleasure and happiness.

I’ve been allowing myself to step into small holes and shed a few tears more often (I love my sad boy music) because I like to think it’s our soul’s way of telling us that there is something of meaning in that moment, so I try to pay attention, because it may be a change I didn’t know I needed.

I don’t want to live a life where I try to accomplish as much as I can before I die, like eating as much and as fast as I can until I’m full. Because maybe life can never be full, that maybe the hunger is only gone when it all ends. Instead I want to savor the few moments I’m given, like recognizing the flavors, the textures, and the aromas of the meal in front of me. And give me the bad food too, so I know what the good food is when I get it. This way I know how to eat. This way I know how to live.

Thanks for reading and maybe it’s helpful, but also for me writing this it might explain why I do these hill climb races… 😅 Anyways, I’m still underweight and very hungry and the Mt. Washington hill climb race is next weekend. LFG.

Rest in peace and see you up there, Lola. 🏔️ taken in Mount Washington by @alecbabala

It’s been over a year now with a beard and my last haircut, and I find it entertaining and funny how many people mistake my age, ethnicity, and gender...especially with a mask on. Even my dad thought I was Jenna from behind!
Growing up as a second-generation Filipino American in a Catholic family in New Hampshire, this confusion about my identity is not new to me. These race related events that gained attention over this past year are not new either.
I don’t care who you are or what you believe in, but if you’re full of hate and want things to change, I leave you with what I think is the most American quote from Abraham Lincoln after the Civil War ended:
“How can I better destroy my enemies than by making them my friends?” 🇺🇸
Anger leads to more hate, so don’t underestimate the power of the smallest act of caring to influence our perspectives. taken in San Francisco, California by @alecbabala
