There is this ritual people do with empty cups. They fill them up and pour themselves out. They hold them and are held in return, spilling laughter, and tears, and secrets long-bottled 🥃🍷🍺

THE RITUAL OF EMPTY CUPS serves as a shrine. It creates a space for reflection and connection. It explores the ritual of gathering, of drinking, of being together and holding eachother.

The work was developed through a partcipatory process before taking shape as a poem, and ultimately, a physical space. The design and materials of each element draw from personal family histories.

THE RITUAL OF EMPTY CUPS presented as part of FEĠĠ x ARTI 2026, developed through Assemblies of Becoming and exhibited in Soft Infrastructures, led and curated by @elysetonna

It means not thinking, not needing to think. It means being force-fed the equivalent of a plate of dry rice every day and not complaining just because you're given some chocolate. It means 1984 isn't in the past or the future anymore. Dystopia is here and now.

Meet @boredpeachclub’s latest artist in residence, @trumpetweenink

Alex believes in storytelling as a way of summoning the future together - a collective act of hope and fear in equal parts, of grief and celebration, of party and protest. “I believe we experience life through on our skin and in our bones through music, movement, and imagery. I believe in nature as the ultimate reminder of our smallness, and of the world's greatness. I believe in individual artistic expression as the liberty of mind and heart, as a tool to build bridges between us, and a weapon to aim at those that try to suppress it.”

Alex is also the Artistic Director of @chewingproductions; a network of artists creating innovative theatrical work with a focus on twenty-first-century forms and realities. Alex enjoys socially-engaged participatory creative processes, hybrid artistic forms, and natural environments.

Some words and memories. A very special few weeks. Inspiration and excitement are always good reminders of what we can be grateful for. I often think of the impact of words. 'Thank you' never really does the job... but it'll have to do (if not all the time, always, then sometimes, for now).

Thank you for the birthday love, my dear friends, for the flowers and the disco dancing, but more importantly, thank you for the good work of being curious, of playing the fool, of dreaming. by @alex_weenink

Here's to another year (decade, lifetime) of theatre-making, poetry reading, live music-ing, art galler-ing, panel discussion rambling, light designing, site-specific storytelling, yellow flower drawing, questioning, conversationing, and more. I've given up on defining what my practice is. I don't really care anymore. I'm just excited (like really, really fucking excited) to make cool shit with you. I think it can change the world, in some way or other. If nothing else, it's really fun to do. So let's do it. "I have an idea" is the start of every great conversation.

It's safe to say it's been a year of new experiences, though this is one I never anticipated. A welcome challenge, and an honour to cut my light design teeth on such an incredible showcase of the human spirit. Flamenco really is like nothing else, and these guys were electric and inspirational.
