Our fourth book, Love Overdue, is coming out with @allenandunwin on July 1!

It has been 3 years, 2 newborns (who turned into wild toddlers), and countless coffee-fuelled writing sessions in the making.

This book may just be our secret favourite child (don’t tell the others). It’s a second-chance, enemies-to-lovers that is bookish and spicy and we found it delicious to write so we hope you find it just as delicious to read.

We’ve poured our heart and soul into it. Lauren, a teacher in Melbourne, carries pieces of our real lives in ways that our other books haven’t. It’s filled with romance and love and friendship and early 2000s nostalgia (hello late night MSN conversations and butterfly clips!). And we hope you love it as much as we do.

Thanks to @theageaustralia and @sydneymorningherald for publishing this piece today, which was written in a little bit of a rage after we spoke at the brilliant and clever @readingsbooks Romance Festival a couple of weeks ago (and @blusshromancefestival earlier this year) and realising something: WHERE ARE ALL THE MEN?!

Men! Read romance! Actually, EVERYONE, read romance!

And thanks to this commenter (amongst the inevitable angry comments?!) for restoring my faith that we might have a new romance reader among us 🩷

There’s an art to creating a compelling short story. Join award-winning writer Melissa Manning to discover the
elements of an engaging story. In this workshop Melissa will focus on building a convincing narrative, a persuasive
story arc, and creating characters with depth – all in short form. The workshop includes writing exercises to help
refine your technique and captivate readers.

Melissa Manning’s debut short story collection, Smokehouse, won the 2022 Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for Fiction, and was shortlisted for the University of Southern Queensland Steele Rudd Award. Her award-winning stories have been published widely, including in The Best Small Fictions (US), To Carry Her Home (UK), Award Winning Australian Writing and Overland.
