Up next, meet flutist Allison Asthana!

October is here and it shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon! After a great opening weekend with @harmoniumoftexas, I’m looking forward to a bunch of performances in Houston - chamber and orchestral alike!

I’m headed to Boston with @emissaryquartet later in the month for a residency I’m particularly excited for, since I get to return to my alma mater of Boston University to give a class, in addition to more university visits and a concert! 🎶

The end of the month has @monarchchamberplayers celebrating spooky season with our annual Halloween woodwind quintet at a Houston park and porch! 🎃

Please say hi if you come to any of these! Annnnd see everyone in November, I’m gonna go practice ✌🏼 by @allison.asthana

NFA 2026 was an absolute whirlwind in the best way! So glad to see so many friends from different phases of life all together 🥹 I was (probably a bit too) busy but so grateful for the opportunity to perform and present multiple times:

🪈 a lecture recital and research poster with @amrutha_koteeswaran, including the NFA premiere of @reenaesmail’s piece Pathways of Desire (a @flutenewmusicconsortium commission)
🪈a duo recital with @dougdeflute and @chenyvonney (our side quest to Seattle will have to be a separate post) - performing @araleeflute and @garethmclearnon arrangements of favorite works for 2 flutes and piano
🪈 a full recital with @emissaryquartet of our album repertoire, with composer @chankaiyoung.composer in attendance!
🪈 coordinating the junior soloist competition and masterclass (with amazing clinician @adameccleston_iii) - always a joy and inspiring to hear these young performers absolutely shred at the flute
🪈 helping out with the @flutacious team all week - thank you for being my home base amidst the chaos!!

All of that combined with seeing many friends, former teachers, and meeting new flutists from all over the world! I wish I got pictures with you all! The @nfaflute team is INCREDIBLE and works tirelessly to put on such a meaningful and edifying week for us all. Thank you @danielpardomusic @paolarincones for planning such a beautiful event 👏 by @allison.asthana

Sharing some behind the scenes of the creation of [moment]um — from our first recording sessions with @bwsayles and an album preview party at @offthevinetastingroom in October 2024, to more recording sessions with the amazing @berliozsgirlfriend in the studio followed by our recital premiere of her piece at @archwaygallery in May 2025, to the last sessions in October of 2025 — it’s been a long journey to get here, but we enjoyed every moment!

Thank you to everyone who has been involved in this process in any way - listening, attending our performances, housing us during travel, donating, and supporting from near or far - we are so grateful 💖 by @allison.asthana
