I think Tae and I would live at John Bryan if we could. Can’t wait for the time to change so we can hop over there on weekday mornings for a little bit too 🥰

Have you ever ran FEO in @americankennelclub agility? Here’s some useful tips to know and reasons to consider it!

This past trial, Actaea and I competed in FEO for the first time. We have had some reoccurring issues that she’s been getting away with at trials, so doing FEO allows me to work on those without getting whistled off or the temptation of still being able to Q if I let her get away with something. She’s not a big toy dog, so I mostly use verbal and physical praise to award behaviors instead. We’ll be doing FEO in standard for a bit to work on her contacts mostly!

We WILL conquer the a-frame 💪

We try to do as frequent of rentals as we can to practice on our problem areas. She started off doing really well hitting her contact! We then hit a bit of a plateau of near misses. I still see this as improvement, as usually she doesn’t start hitting her contact until she is tired so starting our rental at full energy hitting her contact was a big win!

Actaea and I have a trial this weekend and I’m gonna be a good dog handler. We are going to run Excellent Standard as FEO (for exhibition only) so I can make her repeat the a frame a couple times if needed without getting whistled off. Planning to share an educational video about FEO as well to talk about what they are and the benefits! So stay tuned 🫶🏻

Some highlights from our @americankennelclub AKC trial at @incredipaws this weekend! On Sunday we took home our first Open FAST Q in her first Open FAST run and her third Open Standard Q to finish her title!

Overall saw some really lovely moments from her. We definitely still have things to work on (a frames and weaves, perpetually lol) but now that she’s in excellent jumpers she’s been doing some harder courses and doing well with more advanced skills which is awesome! We only had one major zoomies run, on a course I think she would’ve loved too if she didn’t let the bees win 😂

Hoping her heat will line up so we can enjoy our @siberianhuskyclubofamerica National’s agility trial, cross your fingers for us please!

Here is some of the stuff we do to warm up before we run at an @americankennelclub agility trial! I try (sometimes unsuccessfully) to get us there early enough to acclimate to the environment, especially if it’s not a venue we frequent. Actaea can be easily distracted, so I do a lot of engagement and focus exercises as well as physical stretches! I am trying to do better to remember to also stretch out myself 😅

What else do you do to prepare your dog?

Have you seen a happier face on the teeter? 😂😍

This is how I taught Actaea to play disc! Keep in mind this progressed over a couple of weeks, not in just a few hours or days! More independent dogs or non-toy motivated dogs need time and patience to learn something that isn’t inherently natural or fun to them at first. Give your dog a lot of breaks and be very strict with only doing sessions for a few minutes. If your dog ever starts disengaging or getting too frustrated, stop and try again later! You want this game to be FUN not a chore.

I hope this helps you learn about shaping behaviors and maybe a new game you can play with your dog 💜🥏

Actaea and I compete in @theupdogchallenge where we can earn titles that are recognized by @americankennelclub!! Actaea is close to earning her Disc Dog Silver title 👏

I’m going to start a series for how to get involved in agility with your dog! This will be the kick off: find a good and safe class!

Agility is an amazing way to stay active and bond with your dog! If you’ve ever been interested in agility, you should give it a go 👏 Actaea and I love competing in @americankennelclub agility. We may be the only Siberian in our area currently, but we see so many different breeds at trials. You can compete with any breed or mix and have a great time.

Actaea’s win photo from Mansfield! Thank you to judge Donna Buxton. This may be our last ever Booth photo and he knocked it out of the park 🥹 Truly going to miss him as a show photographer, he always takes my favorite photos!

Actaea won BOW and BOBOH today to finish out her singles towards her @americankennelclub Championship today! Just needs that one major now 🤞🏻

This was our first time attending the Carousel Cluster in Mansfield OH and it is such a nice show! Indoor rings, pretty show grounds, and very well run. Definitely recommend if you haven’t gone before.
