I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the stories we tell ourselves about success.

The ones we inherit.
The ones we chase.
And the ones we eventually question or outgrow.

Sometimes the most important chapters of our journey aren’t the ones where everything works out the way we thought.

They’re the ones where we start asking different questions, exploring the stories we hold, and writing a new one.

This post shares a little insight into that journey for me... ✨

Joyride isn’t a workout class or a silent disco.

It’s something that has to be felt to be understood.

Today is a big day. My baby turns 19.🎉🎉 And it has me feeling very reflective.

It’s a very different experience as a parent/mom when your child is entering adulthood. You want to be there for them, support them, guide them and also protect them from pain and struggle. And you also know that you can’t - because i know from experience that it’s in the pain and struggle where our biggest growth and learning often happens. And we have to let them be on their own journey.

It’s not easy but when I look at Emi, and the woman she’s becoming, I’m blown away. I know that she can handle whatever comes her way - with love, strength, and grace. I see her in her power. And I’m in awe of this human that has come through me but is not from me.

Happy birthday @emirayaking. I’m so grateful that your soul chose me to be your Mom. ♥️♥️♥️ by @alyssakerbel

August Joy Drop.✨

This summer felt like the first one - maybe ever - that I felt like I could relax and fully enjoy myself. I actually felt present to all the beauty and the moments of magic in the every day. I noticed them and felt so grateful for them. I let myself rest and play and when I felt inspired to create or do, I let myself do that - without worrying about the results.

I felt a trust that I haven’t felt before that there’s a lot unfolding behind the scenes - and that I don’t have to be doing for things to be happening.

I let myself feel good and be in the enJOY-ment of my life, with the knowing that this is actually the best business (and life) strategy.

And while I feel some sadness that summer is coming to an end, I also feel so ready for a new season to begin (and I looooove fall). 🍂❤️ by @alyssakerbel

Yesterday I had the opportunity to facilitate Joyride at the @sunflowergardenfest and while the day started out smoothly, things didn’t unfold as planned (as is so often the case).

It started with getting down with my girl @rachelmmolenda (the perfect way to get in the vibes for my upcoming Joyride session).💃🏼

I went to set up in the beautiful barn space and had no idea how many people to expect. I assumed it might be around 30 - 40, so that’s how many headsets I set out.

Luckily, I had charged and brought along 100 headsets (just in case).

And just as people started coming in, it began to rain.

Definitely not ideal, but as more and more people kept coming in to take shelter from the weather, I had enough headsets for anyone who wanted to come on the ride.

It ended up being one of the most fun, powerful, joyful rides I’ve ever done.

The rain didn’t let up, and the festival had to be moved inside and some of the sessions had to be cancelled. It wasn’t the plan, but everyone just flowed with it.

Especially @lucianawithlove - the incredible visionary behind the Sunflower Garden Festival. She created this experience from the heart, from love, and that was felt in every part of it.❤️

Luciana’s set ended up being moved into the barn. With the rain coming down and the candlelight inside the space, it felt so intimate and special. It wasn’t the original vision, but it was magical.✨

And I think that was the reminder for me in all of it.

We can have the vision and make all the plans, but ultimately, we have to let go of how we think it’s supposed to unfold because there are so many factors beyond our control - including the weather.

I’m really starting to understand that when we stop resisting life and let life move through us, with us, things start to shift. We’re able to see and experience more of the beauty and magic happening all the time.

And while the day may not have unfolded as envisioned, I know there were so many incredible seeds planted, and I’m so grateful I got to be a part of it. 🌻💛

Some throwback pics from the early years and some of my faves from this year. I can’t quite believe it’s been 20 years since that fateful day on Wolfe Island that we said “I do”.

I couldn’t imagine being on this wild ride with anyone else and I feel like we’re just hitting our stride. The best is yet to come @kickassking99! Buckle up baby! 😁💃🏼🕺🚀💛✨🪩🥂🤘

One of the hardest things about following your heart is that it usually requires you to let go of what feels familiar and safe and step into the unknown.

We want to see the path and know how things are going to unfold but the thing is, we’re not meant to know.

Manifestation is a dance. You just have to make a move, and then watch how reality bends to meet your stride.💃🏼✨💫 by @alyssakerbel

Two years ago, I attended @thereuniondanceparty at @rootedwoodland and had this experience where I could see myself hosting something there.

I saw people moving through the forest, communing with the trees, the stars, nature... themselves.

And then a couple of months ago, I bumped into Jodie Heffren, the founder of Rooted Woodland, at an event.

We had a short conversation and I said, “I think we should host a Joyride at Rooted.”

She said, “Yes! Let’s do it!”

I hadn’t planned to host it on my birthday, but as things unfolded, that’s what felt right.

As I’ve gotten older, wiser, and more in tune with myself, I’ve learned to trust what feels right. When I get a soul nudge to do something, I know I’m supposed to follow it - even when it seems crazy or doesn’t make sense. (Especially then!)

So we planned this forest ride together and I can’t quite put into words what it felt like.

At one point, I was dancing through the forest, taking in the people, the music, the setting sun, the twinkly lights, and the energy around me, and I felt this overwhelming sense of joy and gratitude and love.

And I also felt a knowing that this is what I’m here to do.

To create experiences that help people reconnect with themselves, and remember the joy, aliveness, and possibility that’s always been there.

Even though I just turned 51, I truly feel like I’m at the beginning again. But this time, I get to begin with five decades of experience, learning, and wisdom behind me.

And that feels like a pretty beautiful place to start.🥰

So excited to see where this (joy)ride takes me next!💃🏼✨ by @alyssakerbel

My joy round up from this past week-ish!

I paused before posting this because I don’t want to just post what looks like the highlight reel of my life and make it seem like there are no challenges happening behind the scenes (because there always are). But there are so many joyful moments happening all the time and I find sharing these posts makes me notice and appreciate them more (and what we appreciate, appreciates). And I love going back and looking at them - it’s like a little joy diary.
