HBD 🎂🛫🇫🇷 🥐

Whirlwind from Sac to Paris and back again. Got to see a piece of the world outside the U.S. and it felt a bit surreal...It was the farthest I've traveled by airplane and my 1st time traveling to Europe.

L'art et culture dans la Musee du Louvre! Got to see magnificent works of art--The Negress, The Sphinx, The Mona Lisa, The Wedding Feast at Cana to name a few. Squeezed in a view of the Eiffel Tower.

Vive la musique de Jill Scott. 1st time seeing her ever live in concert and of all places in Paris! She gave a phenomenal & powerful performance.

🥂🍾 Plus, tuned up my taste palate to Veuve Clicquot.

I've been doing art for such a long time.

...Sometimes paintings take me years to complete.
I wish I could flip my art like hotcakes...that just isn't my process. Furthermore, I don't believe in making quick, crappy, bs art.

Instead; introspection, inspiration, creativity, desire, purpose and being utterly compelled to make meaningful art work that contribute to cultural and spiritual dialogue are foundational to my craft.

I started the then untitled work, "By Birthright and Ancestors," in 2018 during ArtMix at the Crocker Art Museum as an invited Artist for the Live Painting exhibition & performance. I had no idea where the painting would end up. I had no sketch or blueprint I was following. I didn't know what its meaning would hold in the future. The female subject went through a few technical updates over the years until the painting reached its final form.

I finished the painting in 2025. Seven years.

I grow alongside my art. I journey through the process. by @amariginal_art_

Year 3 in the books with Race For The Arts @raceforthearts.sac

I surprised myself this year! I experienced marked improvements across the board--including a personal best-- I beat my finish line time from last year! (2025)

And, what a wonderful touch to the finish line moment to get a shout out to "The Browns" on the homestretch! 💪🏾🥉

It's always a pure joy to participate in this race with my sibling brother Italo @gr8vision . He really is a champion for wellness, health, fitness, motivation and art. We look forward to completing this race annually together.

...All things art-related.

Took an evening out to attend a wonderful performing arts event at the SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts Center on 8/7. I viewed a visually vibrant, captivating, dramatic and aptly scored urban musical & theatrical stage play, "Alicia Keys': Hell's Kitchen."

S/O to @_goldnbutterfly ! Good looking out. 🙌🏽 I enjoyed the play. I don't usually like musicals but this one is added to a list of exceptions. 🔥🔥🔥

P.S. I'm a pin and tea mug collector. So, I couldn't pass up the artsy one-of-a-kind souvenirs at the close of the performance. by @amariginal_art_

...because.
...Of all the behind the scenes trials, tribulations and setbacks I've endured for several months.

Injuries & Circumstances have sat me down multiple times in the past year. But, I've remained committed and disciplined to indoor cycling @cyclebarmidtownsac. I learned to enjoy doing something that's hard...to really cultivate an appreciation for this form of fitness.

It required a different dedication and focus.
It requires me to step away from my art studio, painting, admin work and to carve out a time specifically for me and to be intentional about my physical health.

So I celebrate this epic 500th ride milestone. by @amariginal_art_

...Never had anyone ever or since be so deep in my corner and fully invested in my art and who I was becoming with my art. My mother was truly special indeed.

Photo 1: Circa 2009 I was in the Phantom Gallery system on Del Paso Boulevard showing my work with The Kuumba Collective during a 2nd Saturday event. Mom attended & points in enthusiasm. I was still finding my artist voice in my artwork. I was nervous, but I showed the art that I had available at the time: "Evolution" and "Persuasion."

Photo 2: My first self-produced solo art show KOSMOSIS in 2011. I had a vision. I needed a space. I needed to show galleries that I had an exhibition history. I approached the owner of a black-owned boutique hair salon and turned it into a funky upscale gallery. Mom supported that format and sprang into action-- planning the hors d'oeuvres and dining decorative accents. She moved freely helping with food prep, arrangement and setting-up the tables. Works shown in the background are: "The Perfect Blackness," "B-Boys Groove" and "OM."

Photo 3: My second major event--a group exhibition, "Mudcloth Madness" at the Crocker Art Museum in 2011. She was there for the opening reception and was so utterly excited! What an amazing time! Art shown: "YeYo."

Photo 4: Then, my first major solo exhibition came-- "(N)EON" in 2015 at Sac State (CSUS) she was there too. Mom was thrilled & proud...
Art in the background are: "Nu Boy Wonder" and "The Path of the Giraffe Thru the Tiger's Eye."

It wouldn't be until July 2018 where I would have another solo--"Immortal Hues" at Gallery 1075 & the West Sacramento Community Center. Unfortunately my Mother wouldn't be able to make the opening reception... or any others in the future. She transitioned from this life July 13th, 2018.

It took me 8 years before I had another solo --"Gardens of Huemanity" earlier this year, February 2026. As I looked around the gallery during the exhibition, I recalled where I had started...and who was physically missing from the celebration.

...Her love, her smile echoes back to me in every painting I make and every gallery wall I hang my art on... she echoes in every anything that I am.

...Some images just needed another post while others I thought were saved to the last Reel but didn't get integrated. 🙄

A love letter to Long Beach: This is my 2nd visit to you LBC since '24 and Idk if Sacramento will be able to keep me residing there with these types of tropical rainforest vibes, palm trees, sailboat, oceanic, pier waterway views continuing to enticing me. Ijs you're looking like a future home for meeeh...

To Avalon, Catalina I would love to see you again. I owe you a Parasailing mission. Those cerulean-turquoise blue waters are gorgeous. I wonder about those depths.

Lastly, at some point I'm going to buy art on one of these cruises. I'm an Artist who not only makes their own art but collects others' works of art. Picked up a souvenir on land that went home in a shipping tube this time. I'm working up on it. Art appreciation permeates everything. 🌴🌊🎨🖼 by @amariginal_art_

Views & Vacation Vibes.

Just a recap of vibrant hues, scenic views + artwork from Long Beach, Avalon and Ensenada. I managed to find artwork to appreciate along my travel: the hotel stay interior design & room decor, aboard the cruise ship at its art gallery & fine dining and at each point of destination (fine art prints, ceramic tiles, murals, textiles + souvenirs); and, delighting in the culinary arts with cultural cuisines.

Intermingled &/or Commingled moments of Rest & Relaxation. Just being off my feet, enjoying a slower pace. Breathing a sigh of relief, napping 😴💤 and having some crystal clear water to gaze & swim in + lay / bathe in the sun = The zest & fullness of life. by @amariginal_art_

Run it back. Cruising Cousins 2026.

Prima @ksanbella and I did a quick cruise to bring in her birthday celebration. We checked out Long Beach, Avalon Bay at Catalina Island and Ensenada, Mexico. Separate sight-seeing posting coming soon.

Not my work but celebrating the Youth Artists of the "Wonder & Whimsy" exhibition. Outtakes from the East Gallery and Artist Reception @axisgallery on 5/9. Everyone was having too much fun in the gallery! What a special way to enjoy the gallery exhibition!
