JUSTICE FOR NOLAN WELLS.

Nolan was only 18 years old. His family is grieving and demanding answers. Their questions must be heard, and the evidence must be examined. His death must not be dismissed as an accident because it was not one. Nolan’s family deserves a full and transparent investigation.

The color of Nolan’s skin, or anyone’s skin, should never determine how seriously investigators take a case or how hard they work to find the truth. I cannot shake the belief that if Nolan had been white, those kids would have been arrested immediately. Instead, it feels as though Nolan is being tossed aside like trash because he had darker skin.

No. Nolan’s life was not disposable. His family deserves the truth, and those responsible for his death must be held accountable.

Help his family. Investigate truly. Release the truth. Punish those guilty.

Nolan Wells was only 18. My heart hurts for him, for his loved ones, and for the life he should still be living. What happened to Nolan is a horrible tragedy, and I cannot sit quietly while the people we count on to investigate crimes and protect people make it seem as though his death was simply an accident and no crime was committed. I do not believe that is true. The questions surrounding his death deserve to be taken seriously, and the truth deserves to be brought into the light.

It feels as though the color of Nolan’s skin is shaping whose concerns are heard and whose are dismissed. That is heartbreaking and infuriating. This is not the first time Black people have had to fight to be believed or to have their lives treated as precious. Black people are still picked on, beaten, and killed. Black people are still found hanging from trees today. How can anyone look at that history and the fear we still live with, then tell us to stop asking questions? What is wrong with this world?

Nolan’s family deserves room to grieve without having to fight for answers at the same time. They deserve to be heard, to have every concern taken seriously, and to know that the people responsible for finding the truth will follow the evidence wherever it leads. No family should have to beg for that. Nolan’s family deserves answers, and the people entrusted to protect us must be willing to seek the truth wherever it leads.

To Nolan’s family: I am so sorry. I cannot imagine the pain of losing him while feeling that you must fight for the truth about what happened. Your grief matters. Your questions matter. Nolan matters. I hope you feel the love of everyone standing beside you and calling for the answers you deserve.

We are all human. Human. We need to treat one another with respect, no matter what we look like, sound like, or how we act. Nolan deserves the truth. His loved ones deserve answers. And every Black person deserves to know their life will be protected and their death will be taken seriously.

Get better, please. Do better, please. Be better, please. For Nolan. For his family. For all of us. For everyone. by @amber_bauer17

Happy Friday-Eve, y’all 😁! This week has been... playful with people who seem to have a problem with my skin color. It's a crime to be gorgeous. (Photo 1)

I had someone literally find me on Instagram just to comment “black nga 😂” on my 31st birthday post. Like... get a LIFE 😒 or shutcho goofy ass up! And I mean that for anyone who hates somebody simply because their skin color is different. Imagine carrying that much hate over a shade of skin. Ha, couldn’t be me. 🤎✨ (Photo 2)

Like, seriously, Question: How does brininging spitefulness, negativity, and projecting your own self hatred onto somebody else make you feel better? Answer: It doesn't. Are you really that opposed to seeking a therapist? “OMG, a therapist?! Why, I’ll never!” 🙄 Yeah... obviously. Because instead of healing whatever darkness you’re carrying, you’re showcasing it to the world through the way you treat people. Hate doesn’t expose the person you’re attacking. It exposes you. Ask yourself, "How my demons look?", because you definitely have some! (Photo 3)
