Invite secured.

Amélie Picher-Plante ranked second highest amongst all women that did not qualify in the first, second or third rounds at IPF Classic Open Worlds, and is the twentieth athlete to secure their invite to the Sheffield V Powerlifting Championships.

With a total of 432.5kg Picher-Plante lifted 95.79% of the 47kg world record. This was a greater percentage than that achieved by any other athletes not already qualified. by @amepepe

SHEFFIELD V — BLOCK 3 RECAP 🤓💭

A few lifts from this block I’m kinda happy about.

This was an accumulation block. And it comes with a lot of volume and a pretty high stress index, so I definitely felt pretty fried at times.

I feel like every block comes with its own little challenge. This time, I felt a little lost with all three lifts for a good part of the block. I kept second guessing myself, overthinking things, and trying to figure out what actually felt right.

At some point, I just stopped overthinking everything. And that’s when things started clicking again.

But I guess there was another thing I had to deal with this block…comparison.

It’s so easy to fall into that trap. You see other lifters hitting PRs, progressing, putting up big numbers, while you’re putting so much into your own training, recovery, nutrition, and every little thing you can control… and sometimes you just don’t feel like you’re getting much back from all that work. It’s frustrating.

But I know that doesn’t mean the work isn’t paying off. Sometimes you just have to keep going, even when you can’t see it yet.

So, once again, I just did the work, figured things out along the way, and put another piece of the puzzle into place.

Some good lifts came out of it.

And now we go again.
On to Block 4. 🫡

SHEFFIELD PREP — BLOCK 2 RECAP 🤓💭

A few random lifts from my second block of prep, in no particular order.

Slowly but surely, the sensations are coming back.

The lower volume is finally starting to feel good, and the singles are moving a little faster. Nothing crazy, but I’ll take it. Mentally, it feels good to finally feel like things are heading in the right direction again.

Am I exactly where I want to be? Nope. But honestly, when am I ever? 🫠

Halfway through the block, I ended up with a little discomfort on the side of my knee. Thankfully, it didn’t affect my squats or deadlifts, and it settled down pretty quickly.

Then I finished the block with a shitty training session.
And, naturally, my brain immediately went: welp, there goes the entire block. 😭

So I think that’s probably the biggest thing I’m taking away from this block: don’t let the highs get too high or the lows get too low.

One bad session doesn’t erase weeks of work, just like one great session doesn’t define an entire block. Every week matters, and every week deserves the same level of focus and intention. At the end of the day, each week is just another piece of the puzzle.

And with that, on to the next one. 🧩

Wellness stats 📊
• Energy: 4.7/5 (+0.2)
• Performance: 3.5/5 (-)
• Recovery: 4.5/5 (+0.7)
• Sleep: 4.5/5 (+0.2)

I still think this rule is inconsistent and needs to be reviewed, but I did my part! 🙋‍♀️

The strongest part of training happens outside the gym.

I used to think I just had to push harder in training. Looking back, I wasn’t giving my body what it needed to perform and recover.

Learning to fuel myself properly has been one of the biggest game changers in my performance. 📈

SHEFFIELD PREP – BLOCK 1 RECAP 🤓💭

A few lifts from my first prep block. Nothing flashy, just the work that needed to be done.

I won’t lie, this block didn’t always feel great.

The singles moved slower than I know I’m capable of, and there were definitely a few sessions where I left the gym wondering if I was actually getting stronger. It’s easy to get in your own head on days like that.

But then I remind myself (and my coach reminds me too) that this is exactly what this phase is supposed to feel like.

I’m still months out from Sheffield. Right now, the goal isn’t to prove how strong I am—it’s to build the strength I’ll need when it matters. That means a lot of volume, a bit of exposure to heavier weights, and just showing up every day to put the work in.

We’ve also been putting a lot of focus on cleaning up my bench technique, especially my elbows to make depth more consistent, while adding more accessory work. It makes the comp lifts feel a little rougher for now, but it’s a small sacrifice for a bigger payoff down the road.

Progress isn’t always exciting. Sometimes it looks like repeating the basics, trusting the plan, and accepting that not every session is going to feel amazing.

So here’s Block 1. No PRs. No highlight reel. Just an honest look at what prep actually looks like.
