A nod to Rihanna to close “Fa$hion Killa”: “She can beat me, but she cannot beat my outfit.” 👑

Rihanna delivered the line during her 2014 CFDA Fashion Icon Award acceptance speech, and it’s since become an iconic phrase for letting your style speak for itself.

Bad Gyal was joined by Chile’s own Katteyes for the performance during her Más Cara World Tour stop in Chile. The surprise appearance follows the release of Katteyes’ latest single, “NENA BAD BITCH.”

There’s something special about seeing Latino creatives bringing stories to life on Australian stages. 🇵🇪🇦🇺

A few years ago, I caught up with Peruvian-Australian director and producer Rodrigo behind the scenes of PACA Productions’ staging of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s In the Heights in Sydney.

Fast-forward to today, and he’s continuing to bring his creative vision to the stage, this time with Mamma Mia!

Behind the music, dancing and applause are months of rehearsals, dedication and a whole lot of hard work.

And that’s what makes these stories worth sharing. Celebrating the talent, creativity and contributions of our Latin American community to Australia’s arts and cultural landscape. ❤️

¡Felicitaciones, Rodrigo!👏🏽

Colombian fashion on the Palais Garnier staircase. Grupo Niche on the finale. Quite a night in Paris.

For Opéra de Paris x BAOBAB @baobab , Isabella Espinosa’s label presented Resort 2027 alongside contemporary dance, Lido Pimienta @lidopimienta performing Totó la Momposina’s repertoire, and an after-party led by Medellín’s Perro Negro. @clubperronegro

Espinosa started BAOBAB while studying law in Bogotá. This collaboration brought her label’s fashion into a shared space with Colombian music and movement.

A connection for Australian salsa fans, too: Grupo Niche @gruponicheoficial toured here in April, months before its Opéra de Paris appearance.

Swipe through the runway and backstage moments. Read the full story at Amiga Mia via the link in bio.

Meanwhile in Madrid… Shakira and Bizarrap had 55,000+ people singing THAT song. ❤️‍🔥 @shakira @bizarrap

The Argentinian producer joined the Colombian superstar for “BZRP Music Session #53” on 12 October, closing out her Madrid residency together. 🇦🇷🇨🇴

Watching from Australia and experiencing a very reasonable amount of FOMO.

Images supplied.

NEW EPISODE LIVE 🎙️ Link in bio.

Three first-gen Latinas. Three different countries. One very long conversation about who gets to define Latinidad.

Hispanic or Latino? What does a Latino even look like? Who gets to say? And does a heritage month born in the US make sense in Australia or the UK?

🇬🇧 Erika Gil, salsa teacher, born in London to Colombian parents, on teaching your own people and being both.
🇺🇸 Monica Rivera, leadership consultant and speaker, born in the Bronx to Puerto Rican and Cuban parents, on code-switching and why identity is a “yes and”.
🇦🇺 Michelle Yañez-Olivares, Amiga Mía founder, born in Sydney to Chilean parents from the south of Chile.

Plus: ancestry tests and family photos, colourism in Latin families, Bad Bunny, and whether Australia needs a Latin heritage celebration of its own.
