What’s up Fam! Year 2 of building our igloo is officially in the books. Still building, still learning, still growing... The igloo won’t be here long, but the memories will. ❄️💪🏾

My son’s already talking about building a second mini-igloo. We’ll see if the weather lets us run it back this year, but it’s locked in for next winter. If you’re nearby, come check it out before the sun takes it down.

Classical music BL👀PERS. Not as easy as it looks. A whole lot of takes, a whole lot of bloopers. Even in my role, I still need a little help from my friends. And apparently, a battery charger.

Here’s everything that didn’t make the recap.

Follow me next to Carnegie Hall (Fri, Oct 16) and Rackham Auditorium (Sun, Oct 18).

Come with me to the Ann Arbor Symphony’s season opener. Classical music hits harder in the room. Just get out and go.

Come with me next to Carnegie Hall: Sphinx Virtuosi, Friday, Oct 16, 7:30 PM.

Ann Arbor friends: Sphinx Virtuosi with J’Nai Bridges at Rackham Auditorium
Sunday, Oct 18, 4 PM. Tickets at ums.org.

The hugs come first. Then our handshakes. Then both of them telling me about their day at once, and the house isn’t quiet anymore.

Just got back from launching our Sphinx Virtuosi tour. This is what I missed.

What’s the first thing you do when your people walk in?

FatherFirst Friday.

Love is the starting point.

What you do with it is the work.

I got to watch my daughter begin her middle school career and my son walk into third grade.

Two different stages. Two different kids. Both becoming a little more of who they are.

I don’t get every first day, so when one lands on my week, I really feel it. It’s just me and them.

The mornings. The lunches. The rushing. The reminders. The pictures. The hugs. And somehow, by the grace of God, the hair. 😂

So I hold onto these moments a little tighter.

Take the picture. Make the memory. Stay there a few seconds longer than you need to.

You won’t get every moment.

Don’t waste the ones you do. ❤️

It’s not only about the time they’re with me. It’s who I’m becoming when they’re not.

What does your quiet week build?

Happy National Bow Tie Day, everybody!

If you didn’t know, I started wearing bow ties because I thought they helped me fit into the classical music world.

Now, they just feel like me. 🎉❤️
