WOW I’m still so lost for words and taking in all of the love and support I’ve been getting after the premiere of Tiny Galaxies and Tumbao for Tania🥹🎵

Last year, I attended @sphinxorg Connect for the first time and it literalyyy altered my brain chemistry. That single story most of us have, being the only person of colour in classical music spaces, was abolished for a weekend. I felt so free and I met so many amazing people who I’m now able to call mentors and friends.

Two of those people were @andreddowell and @afadworkin who shortly after the conference, trusted me with the honour of writing a piece for this year’s theme “Discovery”, which is when Tiny Galaxies was born!! Shortly after, I was given the opportunity to compose a tumbao tribute for Tania León, someone I’ve looked up to for a very long time. Afa, Andre, and the Sphinx community, thank you so much for seeing something in me and uplifting my voice in ways I will carry with me for the rest of my career.❤️‍🔥

Thank you to the Sphinx orchestra, @silvursmiles , and @kingvaughnconductor for creating such an unfogettable performance. Thank you to @claytonstephensonpiano and @joshjonesdrums for tolerating my time signature changes 😂 thank you to @iagocomposer and @juliannxu for your amazing support with orchestration and copying during what was one of my most stressful summers everrr😭 and thank you @sheenaviolin for your mentorship, wisdom, and constant collaborations! I could not have done this without any of you guys🫂🤗

16 year old me would be so proud and probably wouldn’t believe what transpired this weekend. Always trying to make her proud!🤍 This definitely won’t be the last Time you hear this piece being played! More videos soon😄
