For Angel Massie (@angelera), gardening is more than growing food. It’s a tradition passed down through the women in her family, beginning with her grandmother, Eula, who taught her the importance of growing what you can and caring for the land.

Today, Angel carries that tradition forward at Low Moon Garden, where she grows everything from heirloom vegetables to flowers and herbs in the mountains of Colorado.

When my grandma Eula left Low Country South Carolina for Baltimore, one thing she took with her was knowledge of growing from seed on the land. I remember walking through her kitchen garden in awe of the mammoth-sized sunflowers she could birth in a little backyard garden in Bmore. Okra, tomatoes, red peas and one chicken crowded that magical space, and I knew one day I’d want to grow my own.

So here’s to my ancestral heritage — growing and gardening from seed. I feel like a wizard, lol. And here’s to grandma Eula’s sunflowers.

It’s one of the most powerful and transformative experiences to grow food for your family from seed. To watch the miracle that is creating life and abundance from your hands, like alchemy. Nature’s palette is awe inspiring, incandescent.

I’ve loved the garden hard this summer and it’s loved me back. Here’s to another summer season of fruits, veggies, flowers, and presence.

We’re about to film a garden tour for @houseofeasetv on @homeworthy this week! What would you like to know about growing a garden?

When the call came for us to move to Colorado so Bobby could play for the Broncos, this was the very first trail we hiked as a family—before Gaia was even born.

At the time, we’d only purchased our home as a vacation getaway. But life has a beautiful way of changing your plans. What began as a retreat slowly became the place where we put down roots, renovating it into the family ranch we love today.

This trail begins just beyond our land, and every time I walk it, I’m reminded of how much can change from one brave “yes.”

I thought I’d share it with you. It’s one of the most beautiful hikes in the area, with sweeping views of Pikes Peak (Tava Mountain) and meadows overflowing with wildflowers this time of year.
