But somewhere along the way it became about so much more than losing weight.

It’s about finding joy in life over 50.

Wearing the bright shoes.

Buying the colourful bag.

Filling my home with things that make me smile.

Navigating perimenopause, confidence, change and all the messy bits in between.

Most of all, it’s about no longer waiting until I’m “perfect” before I let myself enjoy my life.

Can I be honest?

Sometimes I wish I saw more women like me online.

Women who started at 27 stone plus.

Women who have lost a huge amount of weight…

But who are still bigger women.

I’ve lost over 10 stone.

My life is completely different.

I’m healthier.
Happier.
More confident.

But I’m still 16 stone.

And if I’m honest, sometimes I see women who are my current weight just starting their journey, and it gets in my head more than I’d like to admit.

I know how far I’ve come.

I know the woman on the left and the woman on the right are not the same person.

I just wish I saw more stories that looked like mine.

*Long Post please read*

I’ve typed this out, deleted it, rewritten it, stared at it for five minutes… so obviously it’s time to post it.

I had my MGB on 1/4/25.
I’m 51, peri-menopausal, and I live with RA, OA & fibromyalgia — because my body loves a group project.

Nearly 10 months post-op and I’ve lost over 9 stone (57% of my excess weight).

On paper, that should feel like a massive win…
and some days it actually does.

But honestly? My journey doesn’t look like most.

When I watch post-op stories from people without chronic illness, it feels like I’m watching a different world — faster results, more energy, bodies that bounce back.

Sometimes I catch myself comparing my 51-year-old body to younger people… then I remember my body is doing its own thing — and it’s still turning up for the job (even if it’s moving at the speed of a snail in slippers).

Meanwhile, I’m over here negotiating with inflammation, joints that creak like glow sticks, fatigue that hits out of nowhere, and hormones that love to rewrite the rulebook mid-game.

So yeah — my progress is slower.
Harder.
More painful.

Not neat.
Not glossy.
Messy — but very real.

And you know what? I’m still here.
Still showing up.
Still choosing myself.
Still moving forward, even through chronic pain 🤍

Messy progress is still progress.

Hello November! 🍂❤️

A new month, a fresh page and a little reminder to myself.

No perfectionism. No comparing my journey to anyone else’s. No negative self-talk. No putting unnecessary pressure on myself.

19 months with Audrey the Third and 11 stone 10.4lbs down.

I’m getting closer to that 12-stone milestone, but I’m not putting a deadline on it. My next big milestone is my two-year surgery anniversary in April, and I’ll see where this journey takes me.

For now, I’ll keep showing up, looking after myself and enjoying the life I’m building.

Progress isn’t always about what the scales say. Sometimes it’s about everything else you’ve gained along the way. ❤️🌈

19 months with Audrey the Third! 🥹❤️

Today marks 19 months since my mini gastric bypass, and what a journey it’s been.

I’m now 11 stone 10.4lbs down from my starting weight of 27 stone. This month I’ve maintained, and that’s okay. Not every month brings a loss, and maintenance is part of the journey too.

These two photos were taken exactly one year apart. Same woman, same love of leopard print, but a whole lot has changed. 🐆❤️

I’m 52, wearing a size 16/18, enjoying clothes, shoes, bags, making memories and doing things I once struggled to imagine.

There have been hard days, wobbles, adjustments and plenty of learning along the way. Surgery wasn’t a magic fix, but it gave me an opportunity to change my life.

I didn’t just lose weight. I gained a life.

I’m not trying to get my old life back. I’m finally living a life I’ve never had before. 🥹🌈

Here’s to 19 months, Audrey. We’ve come a very long way! ❤️

I thought it would be interesting to put my face photos together and see how much has changed since my mini gastric bypass.

Different months. Different hair. Different versions of me. 🥹😂

Sometimes you see yourself every day and don’t notice the changes happening. But put the photos side by side and suddenly you see it.

Nearly 12 stone down, 52 years old, and still evolving.

It’s not just about the weight I’ve lost. It’s about the confidence I’ve found, the life I’m living and the person I’m continuing to become. ❤️🌈
