Did you know you’re allowed to take space?

They say music is only music because of the space in between beats. You can’t hear the next tone without a silent interlude otherwise it’s just noise.

The under currents of our emotional reality live in the quiet moments. They whisper to us when we’re distracting ourselves with the next thing.

If we don’t offer ourselves time to ‘be with’, we live our lives disconnected from what’s ultimately driving our next action.

What we don’t take time to transmute and feel, risks bleeding into the next conversation, or relationship.

The ache is real, the whispers too, but taking time to find stillness and hear what they’re trying to say?

That’s a choice.

To slow down and really listen. So as to arrive more clearly, anchored in your day to day reality.

Wow, what a weekend.

Primal Harvest Gathering, was an incredible coming together of experts, participants hungry to learn and extraordinary musical talent.

Together we felt the ancestral depth and communion of what it means to share time and space with the land, eat locally sourced and organic food and sit by the fire.

For many of us we arrive home with both love and grief in our hearts. Love for the depth of care we felt being mutually held in @sheepdrove space together, and grief that these spaces that combine community and land learning are not more common place. As we return to our everyday lives.

The longing to learn and return to the land, is felt strongly in our hearts and we miss you already.

If you are home and still feel drawn to continue learning we’ve launched Primal Skills, a platform to support ancestral learning for modern times, comment SKILLS, to learn and join us in-person workshops and gatherings seasonally.

Can I practice what I preach?

Right now I’m in the deep throes of my regenerative mission led purpose. Stewarding primal gathering to bring 150 people together to learn and tend to land and this the moment where I could lose my ground.

I’d be lying if I said there weren’t moments, but I’ve been blessed with good people around me, to reflect back the impact that has when I do.

I am participatory in my experience. I have agency.

If I want this to be stressful it could be. If I wanted to self sacrifice and cause my body harm out of “convenience” then this would be the moment.

But I’m choosing not to. I’m holding myself accountable, taking steps back and really looking at what truly serves the mission, my team, and ultimately land, of which I’ve dedicated 8 years to protecting.

And that’s me in right relationship and health, towards myself, @primalgathering that I’m creating and all those who surround me who benefit far from me when I flourish.

Keeping it real, it’s not easy when the propensity to over extend is rife. But health is our birth right, and I want to be a living example of a regenerative gathering that’s fully embodied.

Primal takes its orders from the land.

We first attune to understand what would be supportive for the land, by listening through the seasons and working with the land owner to understand how we can help.

Then we design the event, not the other way around. The land influences what we do, and then we build the educational content from there.

We come together to contribute and learn to steward land in reciprocity, that is the Primal Gathering experiment.

We’ve just released day tickets, come if it tickles your heart to really sit and learn from the land 💕 there’s so much to gain by being present with her whispers.

A love letter to the natural world, is coming to Primal Harvest Gathering.

🎬 SUPER NATURE

A film shot entirely on Super 8, this BFI documentary is stitched together from footage gathered by collaborators across the world. Human hands and animal movement edited into a single, breathing frame.

The secret strength of the film is how it includes the film-makers themselves, underscoring the continuum between nature, animals and people. Which is why it is only fitting that this is being screened at Primal Harvest Gathering, a land regeneration gathering that leaves both people and places better than how they are found.

Over three immersive days you’ll learn the old, land-based skills of mushroom foraging and medicine making, fire tending, beekeeping, and sow wildflower bulbs in the meadows, each one helping regenerate the soil of Sheepdrove Organic Farm as you go, together.

You’ll eat locally grown organic food and sit in workshops that support you to build businesses with life at the centre. Primal is a gathering that restores people, forests & ecosystems, and we are delighted to welcome Super Nature to the experience.

Last year at Community Roots (@communityroots.cornwall) an agricultural project in Cornwall, Seth Hughes led a storytelling workshop while we collectively knelt and planted food into the ground.

Seth Hughes encouraged us to overcome our fears, and write and tell stories that move us from our heart, and feels that the access point to real change in the world come from the expression of our own truth.

Change begins the moment we trust what’s in our hearts enough to say it aloud. Seth is a real embodiment of that.

At Primal Gathering, the safety thats found through expressing your truth, is an intangible element of what supports the embodiment of regenerative culture in practice. It supports resilience and a deeper sense of belonging.

This is something we take seriously and practice embodying through authentic relating practices all while planting wildflower bulbs into the meadows, restoring the land together this year at Sheepdrove Organic Farm.

Come and learn, contribute to the soil, and practice expressing your truth, while leaving the land richer than we found it.

At Primal Gathering, the real space holder is the land.

We’re not trying to “be something”, we come together to listen more deeply, and learn better how to steward the land together.

Everyone has something to offer. Everyone has a place in the gathering. We’re all humble students of what’s required to attune, move more deeply with the natural rhythms.

This year, we return to Sheepdrove to harvest what has been growing through the years and to continue the work of leaving both people and place better than we found them.

Integrity

It’s taken me a while to get here. To fully commit to a path of coherence, and to lay down my sword, and welcome being held accountable in all my shades.

I am the first to admit that, I have made errors, my shadows have played out in ways I haven’t always been proud of in the past. I’ve hurt people, created harm through decisions made from un-anchored places.

And in acknowledging those pieces, I’m proud of who I’m becoming. I feel honoured to walk on this earth. To be surrounded by warriors in my community holding pillars of light gathering tribes together, around what’s important.

I feel depth, in my foundations with the support of my elders that steward me through their example closer to what matters.

The earth. It’s that simple.

The soil beneath my feet, continues to humble me with an extraordinary amount of love I keep discovering every time I attune to the sound of the birds.

The rivers are my teachers, the forests my guides, and silence my home. Every day I am made better by the people and natural world that surrounds me.

If ever I had a doubt, I know in my heart and bones that anything is made possible with love.

Love can overcome all obstacles, through humility and a recognition, that we might not always know the way, but we can always trust in our own heart to guide us forwards.

The real (scary) journey, is learning to surrender to it.

I bow my head to the land, and @primalgathering.
An experiment that continues to initiate me into right relationship in my relationships, with the earth and love.

It reminds me that walking in reverence and respect, intention and care, is the only way to build resilient communities, and vulnerability acts as glue to make it all bond together.

It requires me to walk in humility, and trust what I can not see while learning to rest in being held by the earth.

And truthfully, that’s all that matters.

I want to acknowledge my Abuela, from Moon Dance, Paula from Somatic Experiencing and Dayna in Authentic Relating.

On October 2–4 we’ll be coming together for Primal Harvest Gathering! A land regeneration gathering where we leave both people and places better than we found them. This video is from our last gathering in 2024.

This year, LANDKIN, curated by Brigitte Rowan (@brigitterowan) and Nicole Bosky (@primalgathering) held a stage dedicated to ancestral crafts, folklore, and land-based wisdom native to the Celtic and British Isles at Medicine Festival.

Almost every activity invited us to get our hands dirty, making and creating with the elements of the natural world. Through practical hands-on learning!

Alongside our main curation, we hosted a vibrant pocket of craftspeople and tradition keepers offering immersive workshops and demonstrations in skills passed down through generations.

These included: fish skin tanning, leather crafting, spoon carving, willow weaving, log building, and jewellery making, among many others.

The stage was packed full of hungry avid land-learners of all ages and denomination, with many people taking home something they made on stage.

What do we need to gather in these times?

The primal way to gather, is through contribution, service to the land and communal care.

We come together to learn land cultivation principles, discover what grows around us, forage ingredients, tend fires, harvest vegetables, cook, wander, listen and share stories around the fire.

Together we remind each other of what it means to live in villages where food was grown locally, and kitchens were filled with songs that were echoed nearby at the local fire circles. Which kept our food hot 🔥

At Primal we remember what it means to live, and share our inherited recipes and songs with one another.

Everyone arrives with something to contribute, and everyone leaves with something they’ve gathered along the way.

Together we learn how to participate, and engage in reciprocity, while being part of a community that is creating something magical and long lasting together.

Planting seeds of what will outlive us all.

This October, come and gather with us and plant seeds of shade you’ll never sit under for the future generations.
