THE VEIL @burningman
Burning Man 2026 Temple

A single draped surface of timber, held over the desert for one week.

The playa is the floor of an ancient lake. Nothing stays where it was. Dust drifts, light shifts, the city rises in a week and disappears in another.

The form has no front and no correct way to approach it. You arrive from any direction.

Inside, there is a hollow centre, a quiet space, and a low timber altar. A pause in the middle of the noise.

Built from laminated birch plywood arch ribs, CNC-cut from flat sheets and assembled on site through mortise and dowel joinery. No metal, no concrete, no visible glue beyond the lamination itself.

The whole structure ships flat, rises by hand, and burns clean on the final night.

A little history of Frieze 🎨

Did you know that @friezeofficial started not as an art fair, but as a magazine?

In 1991, three founders, Amanda Sharp, Matthew Slotover and Tom Gidley, launched frieze, a magazine dedicated to contemporary art and culture. The idea grew into something much bigger: in 2003, Sharp and Slotover launched the first Frieze Art Fair in London, bringing together international galleries, artists and collectors in one place. The opening of Tate Modern in 2000 helped inspire their vision of putting London at the centre of the global art scene.

Today, #Frieze is one of the world’s leading contemporary art events, with fairs across several cities. In 2026, Frieze celebrates 23 years of its London art fair and 35 years since the magazine first launched.

More than an art fair, it’s a meeting point for art, ideas and the people shaping contemporary culture!✨ #contemporaryartwork taken in London, United Kingdom by @annaub

Not AI-Generated | Concrete Villa | 1,500 m²

Recently, in the world of AI, we immediately assume that every architectural image is another automated generation. Even Instagram does so now it adds the label by default.

Here is our recent Villa project and it is not AI-generated. The architecture, geometry and 3D model were fully developed by us in Rhino and it takes about a month to develop the design.

For architects and designers, the geometry still needs to be designed, developed and controlled through 3D modelling software. AI can be a powerful tool for visualisation, but it cannot replace the level of architectural control, precision and human creativity involved in designing the architecture itself.

For our real client projects, we use AI selectively: to explore options, tweak specific elements and add final touches to visualisations, while the design itself remains fully under our control within architectural software. by @annaub

One of the things I love most about working with period properties is finding these little pieces of history hidden in the architecture.

Here, we’re keeping the original decorative ceiling detailing and letting it become part of the new design rather than trying to make everything feel brand new. I love the contrast between the historic details and the much cleaner, contemporary elements we’re introducing around them.

We’re balancing the softness of natural timber, limestone and tactile textiles with more refined, contemporary finishes. The palette is deliberately warm and quiet, with natural materials bringing depth and texture without competing with the original architecture.

I believe that it’s always about finding that balance between respecting what’s already there and making the space feel relevant to how we live today ✨

There’s something so beautiful about appreciating the smallest movements in the body. Nothing beats a morning stretch. Even 10 minutes a day make a difference 🧘🏻‍♀️🪷

My very first publication in BRITAIN’S OLDEST MAGAZINE FOR
PROFESSIONAL INTERIOR DESIGNERS ❤️🫶🏻✨ It was an interesting topic for me to pick my design icon and this year I feel that it’s certainly @vdecotiis

His fearless approach to material, his refusal to hide imperfections, and the way he blurs the line between architecture, furniture and art have been a great inspiration to me.

I’m very happy to share this conversation in the September issue of Interior Designer, where I talk about De Cotiis, my own design philosophy, and what I’m always trying to achieve through @ub.london
