I AM UP TO NO GOOD

Spent the last 10 days in a bit of a musical haze—writing for myself and finishing a handful of projects for other artists. Somewhere towards the end, this one appeared. I think I’ll post more soon.

Lately, I’ve felt like some of the seeds I’ve been planting are about to blossom. 🌸

So, it’s fitting that I’ll be back with @orchid.orchestra in Vancouver at @flashrecording in less than 24 hours.

Spending the weekend cultivating a handful of new tracks, taking them back to Winnipeg to absorb some direct prairie sunlight for a couple weeks, and then returning in mid-March to see them to fruition!

I think I’m getting my gardening metaphors mixed up.

Anyways, here are some shots @victoriajunewrites took of me after a session in July last year.

Introducing The Foxhole—a cozy new recording studio in Winnipeg.

After 8 years running a commercial studio in Vancouver, I’m so happy to be back in Winnipeg. I learned a ton from my time on the coast—and one of the things I learned was that commercial studios can often add a lot of pressure to the recording process.

The Foxhole aims to be an intentional, elevated “home studio away from home” environment where artists can feel comfortable to create and be themselves. I wanted to relieve some of that pressure… without sacrificing quality, or the essence of being in a pro studio and having someone champion your project alongside you.

I can’t wait to make some music in here.
Let’s talk about your next project!

After a crazy summer in the rest of my music world—hitting all three coasts in August alone—I’ve been back home and in the lab for most of September.

Over the course of this year, I’ve gone from being really afraid to release anything as BIG FUZZ to really, really excited.

Being an Artist™ is still “new” to me and it’s been a fun journey balancing both the studio and a lot of meetings lately.

But every day the picture starts to get clearer.

Speaking of journeys and meetings, I’m flying back out to BC to attend BreakOut West at the end of the month and would love to connect.

If you’re going to be there… or if you’re not going to be there, and are just curious what I’m working on… DM me or send me an email: bigfuzz (at) bigfuzz.ca.

Maybe I’ll even send you a private link to some new shiii (psst: sound on 🔊)

Our new album FEEL took one year of work! Anthony, our producer, was travelling back and forth Winnipeg-Vancouver-Winnipeg through the whole process.

Everytime he came to Vancouver we booked a whole week at @flashrecording and were just focused on the album for the entire week. It was really intense but very special and we couldn’t be more proud of the results! 🥰✨

Feel is available on all streaming platforms!

A few weeks back I spent the better part of 10 days working on a few new tracks.

As I’ve settled back into BIG FUZZ, I’ve began crafting songs a bit more seriously, going from “Can I even do this?” to “How can I make every part of this better?”

In the past, I’ve always been someone who likes to iterate a ton—record something once, analyze the hell out of it, record it again once I’ve wrapped my head around it—but I was SO uncomfortable with the idea of doing that for myself at first, so the first two singles were more or less off-the-cuff.

This time I feel comfortable saying: I’m going to keep working on this one, but it’s fun to share a work-in-progress! by @anthonycenerini
