Hey y’all! ❤️

Yes, as you can imagine, today is a beautiful day. I woke up so bright!

Yesterday was amazing in so many ways. I received so much love, and I just want to say thank you for bringing so much joy into my life—and into the lives of Flender and her mom.

I did a 22-kilometer walk to celebrate the day, and I woke up feeling so pumped up and happy!

Coincidentally, today is also my first day of classes, and I’m so excited! Wearing a dress of many colors because that’s how I’m feeling from the inside.

I’m so happy to share that we surpassed our goal! All the funds raised will go toward supporting Flender with her education. I hope this little surprise from us will make her day.

I’m going to leave the fundraiser open in case anyone else would still like to give.

I’m truly grateful for all the love and generosity.

FOMO and all, so we turning 22! ❤️

I’m feeling happy, excited, blessed, and all the good things.

Thank you Manu who made the beautiful poster. Thank you for all the wonderful heartfelt messages. I am so happy

I want to share some of this joy with someone I carry in my heart.

So, for my 22nd birthday, I’m raising $220 for Flender, a friend of my sister’s at Ogande Girls High School who is sitting for her final exams this year. I’d love for her to spend these last months focused on finishing strong, without the worry of being sent home because of school fees.

She doesn’t know we’re doing this—we’re hoping to surprise her! ❤️ This is in collaboration with her mum.

Thank you for celebrating this beautiful day with me. 🫶🏾

I Didn’t Travel Much. In My Defense, Planning Is Exhausting

For the record, I’ve been here for about four months and have visited only six cities. Four of these are in Germany, and the other two are in France and Switzerland.
Every time I tell someone that number, I feel a tiny urge to explain myself.

For some time, I thought that number automatically meant I wasn’t “abroading enough.” But I’ve learned that everyone does study abroad differently, and that’s fine.

I was usually in Freiburg most of the time. And when I travelled, I preferred the occasional day trip, visit to a friend in another city, the spontaneous train rides, and the comfort of returning to Freiburg by evening.

All that to say: if you decide to study abroad, travel to other countries when you can. Explore your locality when that’s what makes the most sense. Stay home when you need to. Buy the flowers, take the long walk, sit in the park a little longer than necessary. Romanticize your study abroad stay in whatever way feels right to you.

I still don’t particularly enjoy travelling. Planning still exhausts me. I still need convincing most weekends to go out. But I’m glad I said yes a few times.

Finding community in Freiburg 🫶

One of the most beautiful things about moving to a new place is that you find yourself constantly seeking opportunities to connect and build community. I am deeply grateful to the people of Freiburg for welcoming me with kindness and extending grace as I sought out those connections.

Here are a few ways I found community here:

✨ Friday dinners and fellowship with The Local Church community in Freiburg

✨ Food sharing cafes, New Heart’s Thursday Chai, and the countless social events at the Stuhlinger park.

✨ Sunday fellowship with the Presbyterian Church Of Ghana in Freiburg

✨ Signing up for a local 10K coffee run with a running group (I lagged behind , but it was very worth it!)

✨ Saying yes to every dance invitation. If you ever come here, head to Eschholzpark on Mondays— @salsacalenafreiburg hosts sessions there, and they’re amazing. And if you ever see people dancing, just join them. Don’t be afraid.

✨ Through CaPoA and the wonderful people I’ve met there.

✨ Through friends like Gio, with whom we Mensa’d, and the many people she introduced me to.

✨ And, of course, through my WG, which quickly became a place of belonging

The streets of Mathare came alive with music, dancing, laughter, and purpose during our 2025 Annual Walk & Dance for Education. 🚶🏾‍♀️🎉 💃🏾

Under the theme Breaking Barriers, Building Futures, scholars, alumni, parents, partners, and community leaders walked side by side celebrating 19 years of transforming lives through education. 📚✨

Led by our Cohort 3 Post-Secondary Scholars, the day included a tribute to our beloved Cellestine Caren, performances from scholars & homegrown artists, fundraising through M-Changa and community sales, partner exhibitions, and recognition of scholars, champions, and volunteers making a difference. 🙌🏿

We ended the day the best way possible; cake, dancing, refreshments, and CMETrust family vibes. 🎂🥳
