APRE Art House presents Marcescence of a Restless Mind, curated by Manan Shah

In botany, marcescence describes the phenomenon of trees holding onto their dead leaves through winter. Marcescence of a Restless Mind takes this refusal to let go as a metaphor for memory—what remains, returns and resists closure.
Through landscape, material, family archive, folklore and lived experience, the artists consider memory as something continually carried, altered and reassembled.

New Space, New Home. First View.

APRE Art House moves to Wodehouse Road, Colaba into a heritage building defined by 23-foot ceilings, an exposed wooden log structure, and arched windows that flood the room with light. Comprising three viewing sections and a balcony overlooking the street, the space was built for work that demands room to breathe.

This expansion wouldn’t exist without the community that has grown around APRE over the past three years- everyone who walked through Third Pasta Lane, engaged with the work, and kept coming back. Thank you, genuinely.

Getting here has taken a village- artists, curators, collaborators, visitors, friends who believed in what we were trying to do before it was fully formed. This one’s for all of you.

Opening the new chapter: Apparitions, bringing together artists from India, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan around questions of conflict, memory, and what survives. Curatorial essay by Pramodha Weerasekera.
