POSTS STORIES REELS
Greetings, everyone! I’m excited to introduce you to a character I brought to life last autumn. This project completely captivated me, I found myself so immersed in the process that I just couldn’t put it down. Today, I’m sharing a turntable of the character, but trust me… there’s more to this story. In my next post, I’ll reveal what this character is truly a part of — something far bigger than just a simple turntable. Any guesses? Drop them below... #3dart #characterdesign #3dcharacter #zbrush #substancepainter #maya #unrealengine5 #ue5 #gameart #3dmodeling #art #gamecharacter #3dcharacterrender #turntable #gameready #tiefling #tieflingart #baldursgate #wizardofthecoast #fantasy #fantasyart #fantasycharacter #larian #bg3 #bg3fanart by @artofdom
I have a couple of project in the bank that I will post in the next few weeks. Here is one of my favorite all time. Ashton Kutcher aka Colt Benett in the Netflix show The Ranch. I love this show so much and I decided to model this one. . . . #charactermodeling #art #3dart #3dmodeling #ue5 #unrealengine #zbrush #maya #substancepainter by @artofdom
I present to you what could be a vilain in the game Hogwarts Legacy. I imagined him being under the house Slytherin with malicious intention. His dark magic wand shaped as a snake make him very powerful. In the next weeks, I want to give you a breakdown of how I made this character. If you like ir, give me a like and follow. Cheers 🐍 . . #3dart #zbrush #3dmodeling #characterdesign #3dcharacter #gameart #substancepainter #maya #art #marmosettoolbag #harrypotter #hogwarts #hogwartslegacy #slytherin #magic by @artofdom
I’m incredibly excited to share that yesterday, I officially joined the Character Team at WB Games Montréal as a Senior Character Artist. I had an amazing time at Ubisoft Montréal working on Rainbow Six Siege, but this opportunity was simply too good to pass up. I’m beyond excited to start collaborating with my new team, contribute to the incredible projects ahead, and bring my own creative touch to the work. While I obviously can’t share what I’ll be working on just yet, I can’t wait for the day I’ll be able to share more with you all. by @artofdom
As some of you may know, this is my last week at Ubisoft. I’ll be joining a new team next week (announcement coming soon 👀), and my position on Rainbow Six has just been posted on LinkedIn. I’m not a recruiter, but if you’re interested in the role, drop your portfolio link in the comments and I’ll make sure it gets shared with my managers. If you’ve been following me over the past year, you know I genuinely enjoy helping the community, and this is just another way for me to give back. 🙌 #3dartist #3d #ubisoft #characterart by @artofdom
Have you ever wondered why your character still looks stylized, even when the proportions are right? Sometimes the issue is not the anatomy, but how the skin is sculpted. Skin is not sharp. It is very smooth. The way it rests on bones, fat, and muscles is similar to a piece of leather. Just like in cloth sculpting, the thicker the fabric, the softer and smoother the edges become. Human skin is also not the same thickness everywhere on the body. Areas with more fat have thicker skin. Compare the skin on your hand to the skin on your belly and you will immediately see the difference. Keeping your skin smooth will also greatly improve your SSS in rendering. Next time you sculpt a face, a hand, or any body part, focus on making the skin as smooth as possible. It can make a huge difference. #art #3dart #characterart #zbrush #sculpt by @artofdom
This reel closes 2025, and I’m incredibly grateful. I started this Instagram last January with one simple goal: share my work. No money expectations, just passion. What I didn’t expect was to find such a strong community, connect with inspiring people, help others through mentoring, and have real conversations that actually matter. This year, this platform helped me get noticed and created new opportunities. I became a mentor at Think Tank Training Centre, I’ll mentor my first mentee there in February, and last week I accepted a job offer that I can’t wait to reveal. Easily one of the most exciting jobs of my career. Thank you to myself for taking the leap, and thank you to all of you for giving this page life. I’m excited to see what 2026 will bring. If you’ve learned something here this year, drop a comment or share this reel. It helps more than you think Happy holidays and happy New Year 🎆🥂 #art #3dart #3dcharacter #zbrush #characterdesign by @artofdom
How to get your 3D character approved by Art & Tech Directors Concepts are not just about looking cool. They exist for artistic and technical reasons. Treat them like a checklist, not a suggestion. Every shape, material, and proportion solves a problem beyond aesthetics. Ask questions early. You are not inside your Art Director’s or Technical Director’s head. Clarify expectations before pushing pixels. Doing what you want instead of what the project needs is the fastest way to get a retake. Put your ego aside. Retakes are part of the job, not a personal attack. Art and Tech Directors see the full picture. Your feedback might be driven by animation constraints, marketing needs, performance limits, or even legal requirements. You may not see the whole puzzle, but they do. Trust the process and execute. Extra note for junior artists Being a game character artist is roughly 33% art, 33% technical problem solving, and 33% iteration, feedback, and approval chasing. If your goal is only to sculpt cool characters, this industry will frustrate you. If your goal is to ship games, this mindset will set you apart. Save this if you are early in your career. Share it with someone who needs to hear it. #art #3dart #3dcharacter #zbrush #characterdesign #3dmodeling #gameart #characterart #tip #trick #tipoftheday #tipsandtrick #true #truefacts by @artofdom
Here’s a first look at my new character: raw, aggressive, and staring straight into your soul. If this catches your eye, share it with someone who loves character art. Let’s see if this teaser can push us to 8k followers. #art #3dart #3dcharacter #characterdesign #3dmodeling #gameart #unrealengine5 by @artofdom
Here’s a full look at my Metahuman workflow inside Unreal Engine 5.6. From creating the base in the Metahuman Creator, sending it inside Maya, to sculpting in ZBrush, and sending everything back into UE with Conform from Template. This is the pipeline I use to keep my characters clean, consistent, and production-ready. If you want a deeper breakdown of any step, let me know and I might make a dedicated short tutorial for it. #art #3dart #3dcharacter #zbrush #maya #ue5 #unrealengine #characterdesign #3dmodeling #gameart #characterart #metahuman #gamedev #3dartist #cgi #techart by @artofdom
Hi everyone, I have been deep into the technical side of my personal project these last couple of weeks. I integrated most of the big pieces like hair, armor, gameplay animations and some first pass materials. It is still very WIP and everything will get its final polish later, but for now I can actually play with my character and that feels amazing. Next step is focusing on the high poly and the texture work for the armor. Tell me, do you enjoy the technical side as much as I do? For me, the character really comes to life not only in the highres, lowres and beauty shots, but especially when I finally see it moving and fully playable. #art #3dart #3dcharacter #characterdesign #3dmodeling #gameart #characterart #maya #ue5 #unrealengine5 #fantasy #darkfantasy #witcher #hades #gameplay #game #techart by @artofdom
In my last post, 26 of you voted, and it was close! 58% wanted a breakdown video next, so don’t worry, tips and tricks are coming soon. In the meantime, here’s a quick timelapse of my eyebrow grooming process in XGen. First step: references. I always gather a few and project them onto my head texture in @substance3dart . This helps me quickly test my character’s look before jumping into grooming. Eyebrow placement can completely change a character’s expression, so being able to visualize that early on saves a lot of time. Once I’m happy with the placement, I move to Maya, apply the new texture and start grooming eyebrow. The workflow is pretty straightforward: • place guides to match the reference, • paint the density mask, • use clump, cut, and noise modifiers, • then fine-tune the width and length masks. I like to keep the center of the brow hair thicker and longer, and the edges thinner and shorter. It gives a more natural feel. That’s really it! No magic trick, just patience and practice. Drop any questions in the comments, and I’ll see you in the next video! #art #3dart #3dcharacter #characterdesign #3dmodeling #gameart #characterart #substancepainter #maya #xgen #hair #eyebrow #groom #grooming #witcher #fantasy #darkfantasy by @artofdom
