I love working with dancers on embodying character and narrative. Being able to step into an imaginary world and live in that space with freedom is exhilarating. I'm passionate about sharing the tools that enable a dancer to truly live inside the choreography with courage. I'm also having so much fun developing my skills behind the camera to capture these amazing moments of artistry.

Thank you to the incredible Keira Chang and to Annie and Ariella at @asquaredacademy for bringing me in for a workshop. Everyone in this class gave their all and I will post everyone together. 🫶

True mentorship for creatives is something we ought to talk about more in our western society. Being creative in a world that minimizes the vital nature of self-expression is a pathway to an inner freedom that is so vast. No wonder the world is so scared of it. Practicing creativity is the gateway to healing, confidence, problem solving, and for many of us--pure joy. Creativity is the antidote to world that tells you happiness is found outside of yourself. In the creative field educators have a responsibility to create safety around self-expression. When grounds for creativity are tended to by insecure gardeners, roses will grow thorns, hard protective shells get built around dancing butterflies, singers shut down their power to soften the world's hearts with their sounds. I experienced this on a deep level and I work with so many young creatives who have already been shut down by an adult. The wealth of a mind full of neural pathways of curiosity can be overpowered by the synapses created in an environment where they have to fear shining their light. It is important to choose your teachers and mentors wisely. A true mentor will want their student to surpass their abilities and soar with genuine confidence (not egocentric momentum) --anything else is a red flag. It is a great responsibility to raise creativity in humans, especially in a world thats advocating for all of us to hand that sacred power over to machines. 💜 by @ashleyxcreativity

Creativity without expectation, but with intention to connect. ❤️ This was my first time jamming on an instrument and it just sort of organically happened. We stopped as we first started and just sort of set an intention to really listen to each other. I didn't really know what I was doing, but I had so much just playing around with @davidgpalic 💙

Dashley does Italia Part Due! Tuscan dreams, acoustic sessions, summer rain, new friends and truffles. For us traveling is about discovering the stories. There are the stories of the land, the structures, the people we meet along the way, and the ones we are making up as we merrily roll along (sometimes about a vague weatherman).

Travel for us is about playing and finding new inspiration. It's about reconnecting with friends @cappycapla living in new places. It's also about reflection and shedding some of the stories we've been holding onto from home that are not serving us well.

We are grateful for the unexpected and enlightening stories we found at @borgosanfelice, @osteria.villasesta, and with @foxberrylondon. It was the most charming part of our journey! We will be back for a third time as it might be my favorite place in the world!

We aren't just creating art, we are also creating our entire lives. I feel this is the benefit of knowing ourselves through our creativity. Free writing has greatly helped me find myself whenever I feel blocked from forward movement.

The internal/external beauty of @roseycv! Improv work is something I have been diving into for the last three years with clients and on my own and here is a simplified summary of why:

Holding a safe space and helping guide artists into the inner connection between themselves and the music is a passion of mine because of the results I've seen. If facilitated with care it can fully reconnect dancers to their confidence and power. It is a powerful tool to shift emotions in the body.

The work guides us towards the part of ourselves inside that holds all the power--the part that knew and loved dance from the very beginning. It connects us to the present moment fully. What ever shows up is safe to live and breathe without judgement.

This piece of us can often get lost in studio cultures or industry experiences. The soul must feel safe to thrive and shine outward for optimum joy and creative freedom. ❤️

I am heading into a new chapter of life and I am excited to share more with you soon. Before that I just wanted to drop some moments from this past year because it's been awhile since I've last posted.

This year has been filled with creative inspiration. I traveled to Nashville with Dave to explore, connect with some musician friends, and to see (what has become my favorite trio of musicians) Jacob Collier and Chris Thile with Suzie Collier conducting the orchestra. We went to Montréal to another one of Suzie's retreats (which was epic and deserves its own post). I helped produce and choreograph for two stage plays, a dance show, and two musicals. We traveled to Joshua Tree, Ojai and New Orleans for work, exploration and visits with friends. I released another song under my music project name @ashpalais and continued to explore writing music, the art of performance, dance and creativity with passion and joy.

I am filled with gratitude for all of the friends who inspired me and walked beside me this past year. I will drop in more about my adventures and all that is on the horizon very soon. by @ashleyxcreativity
