I'm trying it out, guys.

Been hearing a lot of varied opinions online about this one. The plot sounds silly enough to appeal greatly to me so I'm happy to give it a shot soon. It feels like it's been a while since I've started a new series.

Have you read this one? What were your (spoiler-free) thoughts? 👀 A copy of Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman held in front of a tree with autumn leaves by @aucoinhorror

Sharing this gorgeous cover reveal for Mars Adler's upcoming religious dystopian horror book!

Description below:

"STIGMATA follows an exorcist named Cassiel who works as a bounty hunter for some very powerful old gods, rooting out demons and followers of Christianity to give his employers more power.

But what happens when he takes a shot at an angel and his enchanted gun misses?

His life starts to unravel, and he starts getting strange wounds that appear at night and disappear by morning. He seeks out the angel he shot at and missed for answers, but he's going to discover a lot more than he wants to know. It might just tear him—and the already-dying world—apart."

The book releases on October 31st. Keep an eye out on @mars.adler's page for more information and pre-orders soon!

Life is interesting. It's been a rough year and I fatigue easily these days. That said, I've been consuming and creating a lot of media due to that. Including watching Iron Lung for a third (fourth?) time recently. 🩸

(Project Hail Mary and Iron Lung are thus far the only feature films that I've watched more than once this year. Buffy and IWTV got multiples for TV ofc.) ID: Just a photo of me (white guy in his mid-20s with buzzed hair, wearing glasses and a Beetlejuice shirt) by @aucoinhorror

There's less than a week left of summer and I'm currently feeling the shift. Thankfully, the autumn equinox does not actually stop you from enjoying things like summer camp slashers! 🏕🔪

I got to be an ARC reader for How to Survive a Serial Killer at Summer Camp by @eric_woods_author, which comes out on October 2nd. If you're looking for a book that has some mystery, violence, obvious love for the horror genre, bit of exploration around media impact and publishing... or if you just love slashers... This could be the book for you.

❓️What are some of your favorite horror media with summer vibes?

My father was awesome enough to grab me a copy of Fangoria Presents: Vampires when he saw one at a store the other day. I haven't read through all of it yet but there's a solid set of topics covered within. @Gradyhendrix did an excellent job discussing the historical basis of vampires in "In the Beginning: Vampires Before Dracula". Perfect way to start things off! 👏🩸

Happy National Video Games Day! I've been gaming more again lately and, while I considered making a post about my favorite horror games, I decided instead to note some of the many film adaptations from games. These are just a few of the ones out there (and isn't including ones adapted to other forms of media, such as books and television).

🎮 Which do you love? Which upcoming ones are you excited for?

I'm a queer (mostly horror) author & filmmaker who's going to keep writing my little gay and trans stories. 🌈🩸🖤

I'm also always looking for new indie creators to enjoy! If you've written books or other projects with LGBTQ+ characters, let me know below!

These are some of the horror films where I prefer the original vs the ones where I prefer the remake. What are your thoughts?

(*The posters shown are from my preferred films, since some have multiple adaptations and/or remakes.)

Guess who is reading The Exorcist for the first time?

Insta Book Tours (@instabooktours) is hosting a readalong of The Exorcist from September 7th until September 18th. You can find out details about the readalong, reading sprints, group chat, playlist, how to join, and more by going to their page!

(And, yes, I'm personally reading it via the Hoopla app on my phone, which I have access to thanks to my local library. 💚)

Today's harder than other days but I'm trying to focus on the good memories I have. It would have felt wrong not to acknowledge them. So...Here's to hula hoops, board games, dance parties in our living room, talking over reality TV & teen dramas, day trips, walks around ponds, you being the 'cool mom', tears, laughter, and every way you made the world feel less scary to live in. Here's to every birthday you spent on this earth before this first one with you gone from it. There never would have been enough time. I love you, Mom. Happy birthday up in heaven. by @aucoinhorror

Happy release day! Hymn of the Hanging Albatross by @palestarsirius is out now!

Sirius has become one of my "must-read" authors. I read this novella in one sitting and I'm excited to read more of the Dread South books going forward. While there are connections between the stories (ex. Dallas is also the lead in Gospel of the Cuckoo), this can also be enjoyed as a standalone (see: I read this before reading Gospel of the Cuckoo).

Hymn of the Hanging Albatross follows a revival in the congregation of a small town that's at the center of a deal with a devil. Eighteen years can be a lot for grief...and for the mind...

Small town - revival - grief - deal with the devil - trans mc - revenge - cult vibes. Yet another hard-hitting addition for the Dread South books by Sirius! With a bold writing style, memorable characters, and some truly visceral imagery... Hymn of the Hanging Albatross was a read that I couldn’t put down once I started.
