At the beginning of this summer I didn't know a lot of things.

I didn't know it would be my last one with my bestest lil man, Rupert Murdog.

I didn't know how heavy my heart was before that, weighted with longing to spend my time on the planet with those I love instead of drowning in work.

I didn't know that I could love a job and the people I worked with deeply and still decide to leave it in search of the next chapter and space to breathe.

I didn't know how quickly I would find myself in the company of those who speak a language I haven't used enough, or how desperate I've been to talk about the future outside of spirits.

I didn't know I could fall in love with @austin_lloyd just a little bit more, but perhaps my heart really has gotten bigger and stronger from knowing him ❤️

My little corner of the world is quieter without an opinionated pup, and just a bit wider with new adventures

It has been a difficult week here at the Ault-Sepulvado homestead, as we are sad to report that our best boy Rupert sadly passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday. We take some comfort knowing he passed peacefully from natural causes, but to say we are gutted is an understatement.

Rupert came into my life 11 years ago as a runty, malnourished, and wayward rescue who toed a charming (to me) line between Muppet, Mogwai and Gremlin. He was incredibly smart, we bonded quickly, and he’s been right next to me through countless significant moments in my adult life. The most significant being when @thenetliblairian and I started seeing each other 5 years ago, and he seemed to know we were all going to be a family before we did.

Indeed, it seems we have lost our trusty helmsman who guided our days with morning (and evening) “Rupért Reports”, complete with a full account of licks and snugs to keep our hearts steady. We don’t yet know how to chart a course forward without him, but grateful he took us as far as he could.

Alright internet, time for a LifeUpdate™️
Where does this story begin? Maybe it began 4 years ago when my at-the-time star trek cruise companion went on an "away mission" in search of a Next Generation pinball machine. We didn't find it (retired from every location we'd suspected) but we did find that we could talk about anything and have lots of fun and adventures❤️

This 4 year mission has had so much of the fun adventure, but like any good series, struggle. Great days followed by bad followed by what even timeline is this anymore? Not because we couldn't weather it, but there was quite a bit of weather interference (lookin' at you Derecho 24).

When I asked AustinThePerson to move with me to AustinThePlace, I knew it's because I didn't want to live without him, and told him so. While I've never been a banner carrier for the institution of marriage, I've known for awhile who my partner would be, and that's been enough.

A day or so two weeks ago, Captain FavoriteOne plotted a course to @pinballzaustin because not only did they have a whiskey bar, they had *the* TNG pinball machine we'd been looking for back in 2021. What a lovely lil Tuesday night date he had planned! After a few games, Austin asked if @pocketbearadventures could come out for a content capture, not an odd request these days as I've been more visible on the internet. Of course I'm gonna figure out optimal camera angles for that bear, completely missing that my partner is saying that "PocketBear stole something", and before I know it, I've got a handsome fella on one knee with a box and a ring that has just been fished from my own pocket without me noticing. PocketBear let him down y'all, losing the ring like he loses himself, but I was laughing too hard to notice.

Anywayz, shortly after I realized this wasn't just a regular ole Tuesday night excursion, the manager from Pinballz came down and congratulated us -- they saw it all on the cameras upstairs 😂 So now we've got a gift card to Pinballz and even more fun adventures on the horizon 😎

No plans yet (although probably sometime in '26) we will do some ceremonializing and vocab upgrading, but until then, plz enjoy the Engage(d) era by @austin_lloyd

Happy 75th birthday to the man who inspired the band and OUR hometown hero, the inimitable Brent Spiner!

Got to spend the weekend in Seattle and watch my favorite person (and Best One™️) graduate from the University of Washington with a Master’s in Library and Information Science this weekend 🧑‍🎓📚❤️

If you know @aulternatives, you know how wickedly smart, funny, nerdy, creative, and unapologetically honest she can be - while somehow managing to spin more plates than she has limbs, fingers and toes. Having a front row seat to it all, I still can’t explain how she pulls it off, but I’m in constant awe of her compassion, tenacity and drive.
