Avin Ahmadi und Lorenz Widauer begegneten sich erstmals im Rahmen des „Carte Blanche"-Projekts von Hideout Records. Die Reihe bringt Künstler:innen zusammen, die zuvor noch nie miteinander gearbeitet haben, und lädt sie ein, gemeinsam ein Album zu produzieren.
Verwurzelt in Jazz und persischen Einflüssen, trägt die Musik die Intimität von Kammermusik und entfaltet sich zugleich aus Fragmenten, Melodien und Improvisationen.
Lorenz Widauer und Avin Ahmadi zeigen, welche neue musikalische Räume aus Neugier, Vertrauen und künstlerischer Offenheit entstehen können.

Avin Ahmadi verbindet persische Tradition, Jazz und Improvisation zu einer eigenständigen musikalischen Sprache. Die 2004 in Teheran geborene Musikerin studiert heute Jazz-Improvisation an der Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität und machte 2023 mit ihrem Solodebüt im Porgy & Bess auf sich aufmerksam. Ihr Soloprojekt „Qayeq“ wurde für NASOM 2025/26 ausgewählt, ihre Debüt-EP „Liminal“ international wahrgenommen. Auch mit dem gemeinsamen Album „Until We Meet Again“ mit Lorenz Widauer zeigt sie ihre vielseitige musikalische Handschrift.

Avin Ahmadi: Oudist, vocalist, composer and improviser. Born in Tehran in 2004, she has been active on the European and international music scene since 2023.

With roots in traditional Persian music and influenced by her studies in jazz improvisation, Ahmadi has developed a unique artistic voice, bringing together oud and voice in an expressive and personal musical language. Through her work, she explores new possibilities for an instrument often confined to traditional roles, creating a dialogue between different musical cultures and traditions.

In 2025, her solo project “Qayeq – قایق” was selected for NASOM (New Austrian Sound of Music), taking her music to stages across Europe, West Asia, North Africa and England.

Ten koncert zamknął warszawską część cyklu Austrian Summer Sounds.

"Wände, die erzählen“ returns on September 12, 2026, at the Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky Center @msl_zentrum in Vienna’s 5th district.

Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky was the first woman in Austria to graduate from architecture school. She had a profound influence on Austrian architectural history, far beyond her invention of the Frankfurter Küche. To this day, she continues to play a significant role nationally and internationally as an architect, feminist, and peace activist. Her socially engaged approach to architecture, political awareness, and understanding of design as social responsibility make her one of the most remarkable women in (Austrian) history.

The Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky Center is both the apartment she designed herself and where she spent the final years of her life. The apartment is a listed historic site and one of Vienna’s most significant and intimate architectural spaces.

In her lecture, Christine Zwingl, a Viennese architect and Schütte-Lihotzky expert, will tell us the stories behind these walls.

This will be followed by a site-specific performance by @avinahmadi, a Vienna-based Iranian oud player and vocalist.

Due to the apartment’s limited capacity and high interest following our last event, we will present the program twice on the same day.

First session 4:00–5:00 / 5:30 pm Doors open: 3:30 pm
