POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
The Ken Cloth has never just been about sewing.
It’s about weaving worlds together.

I’m a teaching artist, an arts administrator, a theatre artist, a community builder, a world builder. The cloth is one language I use, but not the only one.

I can curate a space.
Design and lead workshops.
Write curriculum.
Consult on strategy.
Build teams that actually move with intention.

Ken Cloth isn’t a household name (yet), but the work speaks.
And if you need someone to help bring vision into form…I’m already doing that.

Inquiries can be sent to thekencloth@gmail.com

🧵 First sewing session in the books!

We kicked off *Threads of Testimony* by getting into the story before the stitch. We talked about storytelling through cloth, chose threads and fabrics that connected to the stories we want our bags to carry, and learned the basic parts and functions of the sewing machine.

Next week, we’re putting those stories into motion! We’ll start designing our individual tote panels, laying out and composing our fabrics, and getting hands-on with controlling and operating the sewing machines.

And there’s still room at the table (and the sewing machine 👀). If you’d like to join us, email thekencloth@gmail.com.

Come learn, make, and tell a story with us. 🪡🧵 by @beekenny_

Two years ago, I probably wouldn’t have claimed it, but my father and I are a lot alike. The grit. The honesty--whether you want to hear it or not. The fight in us to go after what we want and to make something happen when we believe in it.

Today, the City of Trenton honored my father with Kenneth Bullock Grove and I’m proud of what this sign represents.

It honors a man whose commitment to his city wasn’t just something he talked about--it was something he practiced. The free haircuts. The toy drives. The fish fries. The pantry. The countless ways he gave, served, and showed up for people without needing recognition for it.

As I get older, I see more clearly the pieces of him that live in me. And maybe I’m finally willing to claim them, too.

May my father’s legacy of giving continue to live through me. May this grove grow alongside the community he poured into near our family home. And may this sign always be a reminder to our family that what we build, how we serve, and what we leave behind matters.

This is legacy. This is family. This is Trenton. ❤️ by @beekenny_

I’m a homeowner. 🥹🔑🏠

But this is so much deeper than doing something for myself.

When my sister passed, there was so much hurt wrapped up in knowing that someone I loved so deeply had been robbed of the rest of her life. I am forever grateful that I got to know her, love her, and be loved by her for 24 years of mine.

She taught me HGTV. She taught me risky decor choices. She taught me that a house could be played with, transformed, made beautiful, and made yours. So much of my decorative eye and my willingness to look at a room and say, “Nah, we can do something with this”...comes from her.

After she passed, I made a promise to myself: I would own a home, and I would do everything in my power to keep that home in my lineage forever.

Five years later… baby, we did it. 🥹

There were moments throughout this process when I boo-hoo cried because I knew that if she were alive, she would have supported me in ways I had to learn to navigate alone. I wanted to call her. I wanted her opinion. I wanted to hear what wild idea she had for a room before I could even get the keys.

But I prayed. I spoke to her. I educated myself. I asked questions. I advocated for myself. I learned as I went. And while there are definitely some things I’d do differently when I do this again God willing I’m just so grateful that I was able to do it now.

This home is mine, but it isn’t just for me.

It is a promise kept.
It is something to leave behind.
It is another piece of our family’s story that I pray will outlive me.

Sis, we got a house. And I already know you would’ve had something to say about these walls. 😂❤️

May God bless this home, everyone who enters it, and everything I build inside of it.

Five years later, the promise has an address.

I am a Game Changer. ❤️

When Mom LaRue calls, there’s really only one answer: say less, I got you.

Jeannine LaRue is easily one of my favorite people in this entire world. Yes, she is a powerhouse, but what I admire most is the way she has shown me what it means to command a room with love. To be a bright light. To make space for women, pour into them, connect them, and remind them of the power they already carry.

So when she asked me to help bring the vision for the Game Changer Mixer to life, I knew without a doubt that I was going to make it happen. It was an honor to curate the décor and help create a space worthy of the women who would fill it.

And of course, my ride or die @nayettemadeit was right there with me, helping me curate, execute, problem-solve, and make the room beautiful. She shows up for me every single time, and I never take that kind of love for granted.

Shanique, thank you for the care that you put into our gurl, your impact is truly truly making a difference.

Last night was bigger than a beautiful room or a mixer. It was a testament to the impact of @laruelistcafe and the community Mom LaRue has built around women who are changing the game in their own ways.

To be in a room full of that much brilliance, laughter, love, connection, and possibility and to have a hand in creating the environment that held it all was special.

For Mom LaRue? Every time. 🧡 by @beekenny_

A year ago, I turned on my first sewing machine for the first time.

No grand plan. Just an old pair of jeans, some fabric, curiosity, and the decision to see what I could make. That day, I made a tote bag and met my obsession with textiles in an entirely new light.

One year later, I’m still learning, still experimenting, still cutting things up and putting them back together, and still finding new ways for cloth to carry the story.

So it feels special to celebrate this one-year mark by inviting other people into the process.

🧵 Threads of Testimony is a FREE sewing and storytelling workshop where I’ll be sharing some of the process and passion that grew from that first day at the machine.

If you’ve been wanting to touch a sewing machine, work with fabric, or explore the stories our materials can hold, come learn with me.

Registration is free via Eventbrite. 🪡 LINK IN BIO (8 slots left)

One year ago, I just decided to touch the machine. Look what can happen when you start.

The Hobby Club came from a very real place: exhaustion.

From watching capitalism creep into our creative passions. Watching the things we once did simply because they brought us joy slowly become things we felt we had to sell, brand, perfect, monetize, or turn into something “productive.”

This was a chance to put the pressure down. To sit outside. To make things. To trade things. To try something new. To rest. To remember that creativity doesn’t always have to lead somewhere.

Thank you to everyone who showed up and committed to relaxing, creating, sharing, and finding your people and your spaces. Thank you to Watu Moja and Bethel UMC for housing us and believing in what we’re building.

And thank you to the community for reminding us why spaces like this are necessary.

This won’t be the last Blankets & Barter. 🌻

We’re just getting started. Stay tuned. by @beekenny_

What stories do you carry? 🧵

Maybe it’s something your grandmother taught you. A scripture you return to. A family tradition. A memory from growing up in the church. A person you never want forgotten.

Threads of Our Testimony is a four-six session intergenerational storytelling and tote-making experience where we’ll turn those memories into something we can actually carry.

We’ll share our stories, choose fabrics that speak to them, learn to cut and sew our own tote bags, and contribute a piece of our fabric to something even bigger...a collective bag representing the stories and generations of our church.

Our finished pieces will come together in celebration of the GMZ Church Anniversary.

🧵 Limited to 10 participants
🪡 No sewing experience needed
🤎 All generations welcome
⛪ Open to everyone! GMZ Church members will receive priority registration in celebration of the church anniversary.

Come with a story you’re willing to carry forward.

Honoring the hands that carried us and the stories we carry forward. by @beekenny_
