What an honor to share my spoken word piece, “Bring Me Your Young, Gifted, and Black Jobs,” at Adinkra Lounge’s Open Mic Night last Friday at @ashe_cac

Having Baba Veronza Bowers @veronzabowers in the audience was a blessing. I was also honored to play a game of chess with BP royalty, activist, healer, and elder in the movement. (Of course, he beat me.)

It was great reconnecting with so many talented and creative brothers and sisters. Great things happen in small rooms.

Special thanks to @ashe_cac Ashè Cultural Center and @charlievupt brother Charlie V Uptown for continuing to create spaces where art, culture, and community thrive. Can’t wait for the next one! P.S. classic black movies x open mic = magic! 🪄

“Productivity rooted in strength is not about doing more—it’s about doing what matters most, in the way only YOU can.”
– Inspired by CliftonStrengths

As someone whose top strengths are Input, Learner, Intellection, Harmony, and Connectedness, I move through the world as a seeker and synthesizer—gathering wisdom, building bridges, and transforming pain into purpose.

These strengths shape not only how I teach and lead, but also how I write. I’m proud to share both of my published works:

Root & Flame – a deeply personal novel of trauma, motherhood, spiritual awakening, and reclaiming personal power.

Thoughts from a Pandemic Yogi – a poetry and journal collection born from stillness, survival, strengths-based productivity and radical truth-telling.

Each book is a mirror of my journey through yoga, healing, military service, and sacred storytelling.

Available now:
✨ On Amazon
✨ On my website: www.fenixyoginis.com
✨ And locally at M Power Yoga Studio & The Happy Hippie Shop in Houma, LA

Thank you for being part of this journey. May you always lead with your strengths and trust your flame.

As I’m trying to consciously drink less coffee ☕️ and more tea,🫖 🥴
my supportive and resourceful massage therapist Sarah at Jorah Alchemy Massage LLC gifted me with my first blend of herbal tea by The Skirted Soldier. 😌😌

Not only does she go hard for vets, 🤘🏽 🇺🇸 she hosts a gorgeous lending library 📚 and a stockpile of local honey from Szallar’s Honey. A dollop of that habañero honey + Skirted Soldier tea gets me right together! 🧘🏽‍♀️.

“Medic” is a great blend of all the favorite plant allies and I’m looking forward to trying the others. Thanks, Sarah and Rhonda for your partnership. Thanks for continuing to support veterans and small businesses.

📚🎤 The Grapevine is bigger than the rumor. It’s about the people doing the work. 🍇 🏃🏽‍♀️📞

What happens when poetry meets purpose, lived experience meets leadership, and honest conversations challenge the way we see America?

In my upcoming book, Anatomy of the Grapevine, I’m bringing together poetry and exclusive interviews with writers, yogis, politicians, and community organizers who are working to create equity within a broken American system.

Swipe through to meet two of the four brilliant individuals featured in this interview series:

✨ Dr. Albert Russell

✨ Adrianne “Ajax” Jackson

Different journeys. Different disciplines. One essential conversation: What does it actually look like to build a more equitable world?

As an observant yogi poet, I’m interested in what lives beneath the headlines, beyond the sound bites, and between the lines. These conversations explore the people, ideas, and movements shaping our communities and what it takes to turn conviction into action.

Because the grapevine isn’t just about what we hear. It’s about what we carry, what we question, and what we choose to do with the truth.

Anatomy of the Grapevine features 15 new poems, some old favorites and exclusive interviews that connect personal stories to the bigger picture of American life.
