Project Immersed: Sound Guides

A series exploring music, sound and its impact on our health and wellbeing

@projectimmersed offers intimate experiences exploring how music and sound influence health and well-being. It connects music enthusiasts, creators, scientists, and technologists, fostering creativity and curiosity.

The theme, Sound Guides, invites artists and guests to craft works that act as guides on a journey of self-discovery and communal harmony, showcasing the transformative power of music and sound.

We are thrilled to offer our live ritual bass experience in Montreal at @phicentre's multi-channel sound stage on October 4th taken in PHI by @beingsound

Announcing being:sound for our warm-up and closing sound journey at Ecstatic Dance next Wednesday, Oct 18 at the beautiful Greenpoint Loft ✨

b e i n g - s o u n d is a live electronic project rooted in the origins of ritual experience, weaving various sound sources to explore the depths of bass as a full-body sensation. This minimalistic approach heightens our awareness of sound as a profound part of existence, encompassing both sound and silence, stillness and movement. Their mission is to open us to the everyday Mystery through listening.

The collaborative effort of Keena Maya and Joro-Boro draws inspiration from bass music, ambient, techno, trap, dub, and traditional world music.

Opening Ceremony: Feeling Sound
An embodied listening practice with live music and guidance by being:sound

Closing Sound Journey: Bass Meditation
Sub-bass frequencies open the somatic experience of feeling sound

✨This will be a one of a kind experience, join us ✨

Filmed near the village of Chokmanovo, the birthplace of Joro’s grandfather, in the Rhodope Mountains of Bulgaria. This is a full rework of our track ‘The Rhythm’ from our ‘At Home’ EP. It is our invitation to connect to the wonder and mystery of the beyond-human world.

While visiting this small village where Joro spent his childhood summers, we realized we were 20 mins away from @meadowsinthemountains . We got inspired, so we filmed this one-take video ✨🪄✨

The full seven minute video is on our YouTube channel.

RITUAL BASS
Music ceases to be music and becomes the experience of sound.
Bass drum oscillations become brainwaves.
Performance becomes ritual.
Dance becomes trance.
Body becomes earth.
Meditation to ecstasy and back.

✨ Aug 31st – Sep 7th, 2023 ✨
Kefalonia Island, Greece
HOME: The Art of Listening
A seven day international program with
b e i n g - s o u n d & Giulia Gallina

During this residency, we will explore the island’s echoing underground caves, its murmuring limpid beaches, and its cicada-serenaded ancient ruins.
The largest island in the Ionian Sea, Kefalonia’s languid daily pace will prompt us to slow down and sink into a deeper and more expansive present.

We will collectively practice listening, mindfulness, and creativity as ways of cultivating the experience of Home: a place of presence, of opening up, and deepening relationships with the self, with each other, with the environment, and with the beyond-human world.

Regular registration by June 30: 1050 euro
Includes residency program, accommodation, food, & more
