Last season Dunwalke Preserve became like a second home for Rockin’ B Gundog’s. Now we’re so excited to call this beautiful property our home training grounds year round. From running dogs, guiding upland hunts, supplying the dogs for driven shoots, running training groups, and perfecting a UK Labrador blood line…we’re here for the long haul. We’re so glad to be part of the Dunwalke Preserve family.

CAT’S OUT OF THE BAG // Well, we’ve been keeping something under wraps for a little while, but we’re pretty darn excited to finally introduce our second business, @crossroad_k9!
.
After years of breeding and training British Labradors almost exclusively for hunters, we started getting approached about the possibility of putting our dogs to work in the scent detection world. From private security to public safety, we quickly realized there was an opportunity to take the dogs we love and put them to work in a whole different field.
.
We’re starting small, just like we did with Rockin’ B. Our goal is to place two puppies into detection work this year and hopefully six dogs next year. We’ve never been interested in being the biggest kennel around, and that philosophy won’t change with this venture either. Good dogs, good people, and doing things the right way will always come first. Plus, having our dogs make a difference for public servants keeping people safe is pretty darn cool.
.
One thing we’ve learned along the way is that the people you surround yourself with make all the difference. We’ve been fortunate enough to meet some pretty incredible folks who believe in what we’re building and have gone out of their way to help us get this thing off the ground. We’re beyond thankful for those relationships, and honestly, that’s one of the most exciting parts of this whole adventure.
.
Rockin’ B Gundogs isn’t going anywhere. We’ll still be doing what we love, training dogs, chasing birds, and spending time with the people who have made this little community so special.
.
We’ve got some exciting conversations happening behind the scenes, and we’re looking forward to seeing where this road takes us.
.
If you’re so inclined, give @crossroad_k9 a follow and come along for the ride. We’re just getting started!

Milestones // There are moments in life where you have a gut feeling that something is meant to be. That brings us to today. A day I dreamed off since starting to run dogs. Fern marks the first import for Rockin’ B Gundog’s.
.
Coming from an unbelievable kennel in Dublin, this bitch has what we are looking for in any of our momma dogs. Big drive and the sweetest personality you can find. The girls pretty damn green, but we can’t wait to walk the road with her making memories we’ll both never forget.

If we learned to listen, we’d hear all kinds of miracles. Sitting in the woods, that’s been on my mind.

Last season we were absent from the field. This year we kill em’ all.
.
As this season is about to kick off, my mind floods with the memories from this time last season.
Days where I couldn’t get out of bed, walking 100yrds was a test of strength and determination, sitting home waiting to hear how hunts went, & leaning on my close friends in the Bird Gang to attempt to setup a morning I could at least lay in a blind.
.
This year we come in mad & ready to make up lost time. Heres to many birds, great dogs, and memories with my closest friends who also happen to be my hunting buddies.

That’s all she wrote // 24 puppies later, 80% of her puppies in hunting households, & the cornerstone to our breeding program…Momma Sammy did her job. After talking with folks over in the UK this week about what blood we have established so far here in the US, we’re off to the races in my opinion to have the best Labrador pups in New Jersey and possibly the North East. We have some contacts overseas helping us bring in another bitch that should really solidify our breeding program.
.
This year Momma Sammy hunts & next year she’ll head to a forever home.
