King of the Gods

This was the other bookend to my gold medal display at Monte San Savino in Masters Storytelling, but thurthfully this is not storytelling to me. This is a fine art tribute project to the works of contemporary artist Yifan Zhang ( @dy_yifanzhang ).

We can read into the highlighted trappings (laurel crown and lightning bolt) and the grandeur of his starburst, but the goal here was to emulate the aesthetic of an artist I admire. There is definitely 'significant interaction ' between the pieces though.

I did not try to emulate Yifan's fluid art chops, as that in 3d will lead to disaster or be faked and disingenuous. But the overall treatment and impact/effect I think worked very well. His monochromatic chops are always astounding.

I chose this model, from Alexandroas Models (@alexandrosmodels )for its classic musculature, love this sculpt to pieces, and it echoes the classic meets modern aesthetic generally in this artists works.

Painted in oil and acrylics.

For sale, if you find yourself interested.

She is the Night Sky - Stanza 2

With a gentle voice, And a guiding hand.
She spreads her blanket, over the land.
To rest, dream, to ponder why.
To embrace her peace, in endless sky.

This work is part of the ballad to the dark hours, the best hours of the day, where I get to feel most like a person. The night time is always my most productive hours. I also indulged my love affair with brush strokes. Painting like this is very enjoyable. Adding in music it really is a piece of all my favorite things.

This piece is all about flow and texture in its own way, and the use of line in composition to enhance that.

This was the blue piece, and part of my Masters Storytelling Gold display at Monte San Savino this year. One of the cornerstones of the display really, at least I feel like it is.

This is oil colours and Kimera on plasticard and clay. Had to break out oils for those tasty brush strokes.

Painted with synthetic brushes.

The figure is a slightly modified @aradiaminiatures Beltane.

An Isolated Case

My 3rd installment of the '3d comic' application. And I think it came with a lot of refinement, it also came with a lot of challenges, and hit my weak points pretty square.

I wanted to have a piece to reflect isolation, and I am sure a lot felt this way in the last few years. Solitude, isolation, and creeping madness. Hints of each (some will be more apparent soon).

As the piece progresses we are constantly changing perspective, constantly moving out, into an ever larger void. We see the depth of solitude this character is experiencing.

I also decided to take an odd turn. The final panel always tripped me in the dialogue, so I decided to take it down the direction the other astronaut comic took. Home. But in a twisted way. Home is different things for different situations and people. I thought that was a nice touch. The 'name tag' on the arm and backpack echo the other piece as well, making it as if these are different places in the same intergalactic society.

Painted mostly with Kimera pure pigments set 1 and 2. Built out of plasticard and epoxy clay. Everything scratch built except a few tiny astronauts.

This piece was a long time coming. I actually built it in April 2021. Then life decided it was not playing fair and here we are more than a year later painting the project. Sorry it took so long. I can't really work on topics like this when I'm not in a good place and consequently between that and a new puppy it wasn't until recently I've had the time to really dig in to some challenging paint work.

Any questions or items your like to discuss?

"Guiding Light"

Something fun I did in 2025, that if you were around during one of my rare I went outside to a show excursions, you have already seen. Let it be a reminder - just because the world is burning, doesn't mean we can't roast marshmallows.

I still exist. I do still paint. I am pretty tired of sharing on socials, but today I'll make an exception, for the sake of amusement. by @birdnbrush

Idiots of Fire

Decided this was amusing and should be kept around longer than a story. Enjoy the idiot by @birdnbrush

Maybe today I will share something small.

This is 'Here Lies Bob'. A gift for my friend @quentin_jimmy_poin .

Just some fun good times all around. Why Bob? What did Bob do to me? Who knows, ask Quentin.

Once more, for the time being, I'll break my silence and celebrate and awesome painter (and fellow astronaut obsessed Canadian - @flooko ) .

This piece is a tribute piece, as its a rendition of one of this works 'Thanks for Everything Buddy'

Love his piece, and thought it would be fun to pay homage and bring it to 3d borrowing from flats, and papercraft.

Has a light in the top too, so fancy.

Thanks Nick for your awesome artwork. (If you don't know Nick's work, you can never go wrong with more absolute space cadet astronaut obsessed works, they are part of a balanced diet). Its amazing that there were 2 of us this whole time in a small area (he's a bit more important than me, granted).

The Tallest Sh*tpost

Some of you may have noticed I was at Fen in spirit. Thanks to Olly for helping me pull this off, masquerading in the pseudonym Flin Meter. What's up with that. Any chance to take the piss.

Not sure I've ever been anywhere in spirit as strongly as that one.

If you know, you know. The ballad of the poop frog is not yet completely written

Etude II - Dwarf

My second exercise of the year. I'm a bit tired of exercises now, and will do something fun and enriching for my enclosure. Like a @romanlappat.miniatureart astronaut as hinted at the end.

Remember - beyond your imagination 2 is in. Let's do some astronauts.

Busy from @spiramirabilis_miniatures . Painted with a wonderful set of Kimera synthetic brushes I'm trying very hard to kill but are 4 projects deep. Going strong.

Also I hate when people add music to posts, gives me MySpace flashbacks, but all the cool kids are doing it. Just kidding, none of us looking at this are cool.
