When augmenting figures of folks who actually exist, it’s important to get it right.

We stopped by KTVU Fox 2 to talk about the Juneteenth AR.T Hack and why representation matters in the future of immersive technology.

Since launching our AR.T Hack series, we’ve brought together artists, technologists, archivists, designers, students, and community leaders from around the world to learn, collaborate, and create augmented reality experiences rooted in culture and community.

Our mission is simple:
Make emerging technology accessible.
Empower artists to tell their own stories.
Ensure that the future of spatial computing reflects the communities shaping it.

This Juneteenth, we’re continuing that work by bringing analogue and digital artists together to transform murals, archives, and public spaces into interactive experiences.

Thank you to KTVU Fox 2 for helping us share the vision behind Black Terminus AR.T and the growing movement to bring augmented reality to every neighborhood.

We’re not just imagining the future.
We’re building it.

Shoutout to @adventurouskam for the layup.

Knicks in 5.

I was walking through Brooklyn, taking in the walls of the Bushwick Collective, when this piece stopped me in my tracks.

Not because it moved.
Because it already felt like it was.

The way @menas24711 captured the energy, focus, and presence of these New York Knicks players felt larger than the wall itself. It felt like a moment frozen in motion.

As an augmented reality artist, I'm always asking myself a simple question:

What happens when the story continues beyond the paint?

So I pulled out the Black Terminus AR.T app and added another layer to the mural—subtle movement, animation, and digital life that builds on the foundation Menas created.

Not to change the work.
To have a conversation with it.

That's what I love most about public art. One artist puts something into the world. Another artist encounters it. A new story emerges.

From spray paint to augmented reality.

Thank you, @menas24711, for the inspiration. taken in The Bushwick Collective by @blackterminusar

Brought the walls to life in Queensbridge.

Activated the Queensmatic mural with Black Terminus AR. Original by @jorit — a tribute to Nas @nas in the place that made him.

I used @meta.ai to prompt the AR video layer, then mapped it to the image target through @blackterminusar . Now the mural isn’t just painted history — it’s moving, breathing, responding in real time.

This is why we build: tech that honors context, not hype. Culture as infrastructure.

Respect to the artists who painted the foundation. We just added motion.

Full activation walkthrough dropping soon. taken in Queensbridge by @blackterminusar
