Welcoming the students of Grange School, Lagos, to Bloom Art was a true full-circle moment for our founder, Ugoma Ebilah @ugomaebilah , who once walked the same halls as a student.

Their curiosity, thoughtful questions and genuine wonder were a timely reminder that every child deserves opportunities to encounter art—not simply to admire it, but to imagine, question and see the world differently. The future of our creative landscape begins with nurturing young minds with intention, generosity and access.

As artist and writer Eric Gill famously observed, “The artist is not a special kind of person; every person is a special kind of artist.”

This finissage offers one last opportunity to experience the works within the context of the exhibition, meet the artist, and reflect on the ideas that shaped the project, including forced displacement, memory, and communities affected by violence.⁠

The evening will include a screening of behind-the-scenes footage documenting Adeyinka's residency process, followed by an open conversation and Q&A where visitors can engage directly with the artist.⁠

Bloom Art is pleased to announce its new gallery at Mbari Kola @mbarikola , expanding our presence within one of Lagos’ newest cultural destinations.

Founded by Ugoma Ebilah, Mbari Kola is a multidisciplinary arts society dedicated to advancing African art, literature and ideas through exhibitions, research, public programmes and community. Within this vibrant cultural ecosystem, Bloom Art continues its gallery programme, presenting and placing exceptional contemporary African art while creating new opportunities for artists, collectors and audiences to connect.

Join us at G.A.S. Lagos on 23rd July 2026 for Exodus, a presentation of new mixed-media works by current resident Adeyinka Akingbade (@adeyinka_akingbade), developed during his four-week residency. Expanding his ongoing project Exodus, Adeyinka transforms discarded books and found materials into sculptural works that reflect on displacement, survival, memory, and the communities forced to flee violence. Through repurposed books, metal, wood, and school uniform fabric, the works bear witness to lives interrupted while exploring the power of materials to hold memory.⁠
⁠
Following the presentation, Adeyinka will lead a hands-on workshop introducing participants to his book-sculpting techniques. Grounded in play and experimentation, the session invites participants to transform discarded books into sculptural forms inspired by the themes explored in the presentation, before closing with a collective reflection.⁠
⁠
The works will remain on view until 7th August 2026 following the opening and can be visited on weekdays from 10am-4pm.⁠

We invite you to experience this intimate exhibition, a celebration of artistic growth, mentorship, and community.

Featuring works by Raji Mohammed @rajibabatunde_fineart , Funke Oladimeji @funke_oladimeji , Olufemi Oyewole @wafemi and Olajide Salako @salakoolajide_artist , four artists whose practices were shaped during their time at the renowned Universal Studios of Art, Lagos. Working under the guidance of master painter Abiodun Olaku @abiodunolakuart , the studio has, for decades, nurtured generations of Nigerian artists, shaping practices rooted in technical excellence and individual expression.

The exhibition is on view at The Wheatbaker Hotel, Ikoyi, through September 2026.

Mama, I made it into the Arctic World Archive and it’s definitely one for the history books!

On February 27th, the Arctic World Archive in Svalbard, Norway, received its first-ever Nigerian deposit, and I’m beyond honoured to have been part of the delegation for this global milestone✨

It’s amazing to know that several inspiring and impactful Nigerian histories are now tucked away in a mountain vault near the North Pole.

To think that fruits of my decades-long work in the arts and culture alongside a special selection of Nigeria’s cultural treasures are now preserved in a digital vault for future generations… it’s just so surreal and I am still pinching myself.

Huge gratitude to Piql Nigeria, the National Archives of Nigeria (NAN), and the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) for the invite, and heartfelt thanks to Nze Ed Emeka Keazor for the emphatic nomination that made this happen 🫶🇳🇬

We were delighted to host a group of high-spirited students from the Art for Hope initiative for a guided tour of the Bloom Art space, in honour of Lagos Gallery Weekend.

The children’s lively enthusiasm and curiosity for the arts lit up the room as they explored the unique stories behind every piece and object they encountered.
