If taste had a feeling - @neverlab ‘s Single Origin Heirloom Natural Colombia

Frozen pink lemonade sweats down the sides of glass pitchers, leaving sugar-citrus kisses on your tongue—a bright, chilled punctuation to the morning’s ritual of green tea, whose quiet perfume drifts from the kitchen, steam curling above a lived-in mug smudged with yesterday’s lipstick.

Hot, sticky summer days—bare feet pressed into warm grass, the world soft beneath you. Sprinklers tick and turn, their rhythm stitched together with distant giggles. Time seems to flicker faster in that kind of light, as if the sun itself urges you to gather every bright second in your hands before it slips away. Chalk dust clings to your fingertips, pastel crumbs hiding beneath your nails—little proofs of afternoons spent drawing worlds on the sidewalk.

You listen for the familiar call from the back screen door, but you don’t go in. Not yet. Not until the streetlights hum awake and spill their glow like a reminder that even summer has its limits.

And when the day finally folds, you stretch out in the soft dark, eyes closing as the last threads of sunlight unwind across your skin—warm, lingering, reaching for you as though the day can’t quite bear to let you go.

Bear’s Bar 🧸🤎

Some of the sweetest people I know came to me with a request wrapped in love: help us celebrate Bear. Thirteen years of a life well-lived, of a soul who has wandered into hearts and made himself completely at home there. So I found myself behind a bar thinking not about ratios or garnishes, but about the people who love him — their laughter, their tenderness, the way their eyes soften when they say his name. Every drink I’ve made for this menu carries that. A little sweetness for the joy he brings. A little warmth for the way he stays. A little sunshine for Serena whom adopted this sweet guy and finds every moment to cherish him. A little something bright, because that’s what Bear does — he makes everything a little brighter.

reflections from “Taste Mapping” January 18th

uncovering complexity in known tastes; the fast pace of life leads us to miss out on the subtleties, this was a moment to pause and savor the often-overlooked details. where tangy and rich flavors awaken your senses, sweetness lingers on your tongue, and mouthfeel reveals its intricacies

i’m grateful to have the opportunity to continue experimenting and exploring ways to make tasting approachable, connecting with our everyday customers and friends - slowing down to share in it together taken in Portland, Oregon by @bluestbrew

On June 13th we held the first ever Queer Cute Trans Day of Care.

The idea for this event was simple, free care and resources to trans folks by trans and or queer folks. No money exchanged, just queer and trans joy.

This event went so well and the feedback was so overwhelmingly good that we’ve decided to continue doing this event regularly. We’re still mapping out if that will be monthly or bi monthly.

If you are a vendor & want to provide free resources, please reach out!

Thank you to everyone who participated & to every volunteer who helped make this happen. 💕

Events like the Queer Cruise allow us to invest in mutual aid projects like this one & we’re so excited to be able to expand and provide larger mutual aid events in the future (like a Trans Job Fair!!!)

A custom celebration menu for one of my best buds

Grace and I began dreaming up this cocktail menu months ago — she had a vision from the very start. Each drink would mark a chapter, a place, a feeling from her time in Portland.

And because every good story deserves something sweet, the most wonderful @maddiebrehm handcrafted macarons to companion each one, drawn from the same flavors and feelings that inspired the drinks themselves.

Beltane— for new beginnings, for the freshness of spring and everything it promises. Spiced apricot, Four Roses Bourbon, elderflower, and a little sparkle.

The Indigo— for a home that welcomed her in and made space for her truest self. Cucumber gin gimlet with crème de violette and a whisper of lavender dust.

Four’s a Crew— for the place where paths crossed and a little family was formed. A Natural Ethiopia Guji espresso from @neverlab , orange-infused vodka, elderflower, and simple syrup.

Coffee and cocktails have always had a quiet understanding between them, and getting to bring both worlds together for someone dear to me was nothing short of magical.

We’re hosting Queer Cute & @tender.tastings first ever Trans Day of Care!

The event is simple - everything provided is free & is centered around providing free resources for Trans / Non Binary individuals. This event is led by trans folks for trans folks 🌸

We have a list of vendors that will be providing free acupuncture, massage, goodie bags and resources like referrals for gender affirming letters & electrolysis along with intentional makeup up lessons by @under.bloom & free gender affirming haircuts by @badhairdaypdx

Sign ups for massage sessions, haircuts & acupuncture sessions will take place in person. There are a limited number of slots available. First come, first serve. Sessions are 30min per a person. One service per a person.

Prep in the lab before the tasting a couple weeks ago; a cupping of single origin components side by side, followed by exploring full constructed tastes of each blend. Some distinct and identifiable, and others, that take some sorting and pondering. Pieces that create a whole picture.

Every next moment feels simultaneously experimental and offers affirmations of the beauty intertwined in hosting spaces for folks to share their personal tastes, preferences, and experiences. by @bluestbrew
