POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
24 years clean today.

At 16 I was angry, lost, & completely trapped inside my own mind.

I grew up in Queens. I was loved deeply by two parents who gave me far more support, safety, and stability than many people ever receive.

Even at my lowest, they never stopped believing in me.

But internally, I hated myself.

That shame eventually turned into addiction. And the deeper I sank into it, the more I identified with the part of me that felt broken, powerless, and beyond saving.

What rescued me was not punishment. It was learning how to reconnect with myself with 3 things.

šŸ’Ŗ Strength training
At first, honestly, I started lifting to impress a girl. But over time it gave me something much deeper: self-respect, discipline, and a way to transform pain into strength.

šŸ§˜šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø Meditation + Tai Chi
These practices taught me how to stay with myself instead of escaping myself. How to breathe. Feel. Slow down. Listen.

🌳 Nature
Especially the forest. Nature reminded me there was something deeper than the stories in my head. Something alive underneath all the shame and noise that was untouched, pure, eternal.

Those three things didn’t just help me get sober. They helped me rebuild trust in myself.

I feel incredibly grateful that for more than 20 years now, I’ve been able to share those same three tools in my coaching practice to support people trying to find their way back to themselves.

My own path has also given me a tremendous amount of humility in understanding my students. It’s been beautiful exploring this intersection of identity, body image, self-worth, addiction, healing, and self-care with them.

It’s also been deeply validating to watch modern science increasingly confirm what I experienced firsthand: movement, meditation, nervous system regulation, nature, and human connection profoundly shape body, brain & behavior.

The last photo is of the two people who loved me through all of it. My actions caused them enormous pain, and they still never stopped believing in me. That love gave me the foundation I needed to rescue myself.

If someone came to mind while reading this, tag them below and remind them they’re not alone. taken in Chelsea, Manhattan by @bmn.coach

What’s actually possible when you finally stop the self-sabotage?

Because when you stop battling your body and start working WITH it, everything changes.

These women didn’t just lift heavier weights. They learned how to rest, breathe, recover, and reconnect.

They built strength that lasts—through energy medicine, breathwork, healing touch, strength training, relaxation, and real coaching support.

It’s not another ā€œholisticā€ plan. It’s a complete system that helps you feel grounded, capable, and fully alive—so every part of you starts working together instead of against itself.

The women in this post are proof: real transformation touches every layer of your life.

šŸ’„ Welcome to My World šŸ’„

Hey, I’m Coach Jonathan, and I’m not your typical strength & wellness coach. My approach is RADICALLY unconventional—because women deserve better than cookie-cutter fitness. šŸ’«

I created Breathe Move Nourish to help ambitious moms feel safe, strong, and joyful in their bodies. This is about deep healing, not just exercise. It’s about reclaiming power, pleasure, and trust in your body—without burnout, punishment, or toxic diet culture. šŸš«šŸ”„

Women are the strongest people on the planet. PERIOD. šŸ’Ŗ I’ve had the privilege of coaching and learning from some of the most powerful, driven, and inspiring women. And guess what? Strength is about more than lifting weights. It’s about moving with confidence, setting boundaries, mastering your mind, and feeling at home in your own skin.

šŸŒ¬ļø Breathwork to calm the nervous system
šŸ”® Energy medicine to unlock deep healing
šŸ† Primal movement to restore your body’s natural power
šŸ‹šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø Strength & mobility so you can move with freedom

The results? My clients tell me they finally feel at peace in their bodies. They’re no longer fighting against themselves. They’re falling in love with movement again. šŸ’ƒšŸ½

If you’re here, you belong. Drop a ā¤ļø in the comments if you’re ready to train differently—because pleasure IS the process. šŸ‘

Let’s move, breathe, and thrive together. šŸš€

In my happy place, surrounded by strong women who lead.

What changes when a mother hears another woman describe the very thing she’s been blaming herself for?

I’ve been thinking about that since the Her House screening of No Country for Mothers.

There’s the relief of realizing you’re not alone. But there’s another recognition, too:

Some of what you’ve been treating as a personal failure comes from circumstances you were never fully in control of.

The demands. The missing support. The expectation that somehow, you’ll make it all work.

I’m an energy guy. I pay attention to what happens in a room. And during the conversation after the screening, I felt something shift.

That interests me because I recognize it from my work.

I coach women one-on-one. Sometimes, when someone trusts me enough to put words to what she’s carrying, we can begin to see it more clearly together.

I hear versions of the same struggles from different women. Often, each has been carrying a private sense that she should be handling it better.

Hearing another woman say it out loud can open a different question: What support is missing here?

That’s why the gathering matters to me as much as the film.

Getting mothers into a room is no small logistical achievement. But when they’re there, talking honestly, something becomes possible that goes beyond exchanging information.

Collective problems require collective solutions. A roomful of recognition doesn’t solve childcare or change workplace expectations overnight. It can help people see what they’re facing together, and begin asking what needs to change.

Most of my work is intimate and individual. That evening left me wanting to create more opportunities for women to connect in person, too.

Thank you, @thatnycclaire of @her_house_official for leading the conversation with such warmth, and Laura Cunningham of @hiavaofficial and Liz Hudler of @chamberofmothers for helping bring these women & realities into the room.

I came as a dad, a coach, and a human being who cares. I left thinking about how much becomes possible when people have somewhere to say the quiet part out loud. by @bmn.coach

Goodbye, summer. Hello, school calendars, permission slips, and 47 emails about a bake sale. šŸ‚

Everyone’s getting back into gear. But who’s making room for Mom?

Some of the strongest women I know feel they need permission to take an hour for themselves.

After 25+ years as a coach, the women I work with keep expanding my definition of strength.

Sometimes the dumbbells are the straightforward part.

The harder part is getting out the door without organizing three other people’s lives first.

Signing up for the class. Protecting the hour. Letting someone else handle dinner, including the groundbreaking investigative work of figuring out what’s in the fridge.

We have to stop calling that a motivation problem.

Making room for yourself takes strength. It also takes practical support. A better mindset can’t cover school pickup.

I wrote a new blog post for the moms whose families have a back-to-school schedule, while their own workout is still filed under ā€œwe’ll see.ā€ šŸ™‚

Practical ideas, a little humor, and a free worksheet to help protect one movement appointment and figure out what makes it possible. No email signup.

The article is linked in my Story. Or DM me and I’ll send it over. ā¤ļø taken in Atlantic Beach, New York by @bmn.coach

Most women are under-touched — and over-needed.

Kids pulling at you.
Partners wanting from you.
Everyone asking… something.

Even gentle touch can start to feel invasive when your system is always giving.

But here’s the truth your body hasn’t forgotten:

It still needs to be held.

Not managed.
Not fixed.
Not taken from.

Just… held.

Because when touch is supportive instead of extractive, the whole system reorganizes.

Something softens.
Something deepens.
And her body remembers:

ā€œI am enough.ā€

When was the last time you were held in a way that nourished you deeply? taken in CompleteBody by @bmn.coach

ā¤ļøā€šŸ©¹ She wasn’t born this way.

Life shaped her into this… because she had no other choice.

These are the hidden physical signs her masculine energy isn’t just driving her, it’s protecting her:

1ļøāƒ£ She holds her breath.

Example: She tenses through her chest and shoulders, bracing without realizing it.

What she needs: To feel safe enough to exhale fully, and trust her body will still be held.

2ļøāƒ£ She struggles to fall asleep—and wakes up unrested.

Example: Her mind races at night, her body never fully shuts down, and mornings feel like climbing uphill.

What she needs: Practices that calm her nervous system and signal safety so her body can restore.

3ļøāƒ£ She’s overly sensitive to the cold.

Example: Hands and feet always freezing, even in moderate temperatures, because circulation is compromised by constant tension.

What she needs: Warmth, touch, and grounding practices that reconnect her to flow.

4ļøāƒ£ Her jaw, neck, or shoulders are always tight.

Example: TMJ, headaches, knots that never fully release—the body storing what the heart had no space to process.

What she needs: Breath, touch, and practices that reconnect her to her authentic voice—so she can finally release and say what only she can say.

5ļøāƒ£ She gets sick or run down easily.

Example: Burnout, colds, immune dips that flare when she pushes past her own limits.

What she needs: Not just permission to slow down and replenish—but real support.

ā¤ļøā€šŸ©¹ My final thought:

If a woman’s Yang energy shows up in her body this way, it’s not because she’s weak.

It’s because no one made her feel safe enough to rest in her softness.

That is not her flaw.

It is the armor she built to survive.

šŸ‘‰ If you see yourself in 2 or more of these signs, your body is speaking to you—it’s drawing a boundary. The most powerful thing you can do is listen.

Comment HEAL and follow for more.

Your next chapter starts when you decide to honor what your body is asking for, even when it feels hard.

This is what 49 looks like. 🤯🄰

Happy birthday, Alexandra!šŸŽ‰

What you’re seeing here isn’t about performance or aesthetics. It’s the result of a long, curious relationship with the body.

Dance, yes.
But also strength training.
Primal movement.
Qigong.

A willingness to explore beyond one modality, to keep range instead of narrowing over time.

What I admire most isn’t how this looks.

It’s the willingness to keep exploring. To stay in conversation with the body rather than trying to control it.

That’s where real confidence comes from.

Range matters.

Because leadership, whether on a stage or in a boardroom, asks for adaptability, presence, and trust in the unknown.

Those qualities are trained through the body long before they’re expressed in words or decisions.

Happy birthday, @alexandra_damiani

Your movement is a masterclass in what embodied leadership actually looks like. Your students are so lucky to see someone living by example, and I’m grateful to witness your integrity every day. taken in The Juilliard School by @bmn.coach

Okay, but seriously… where are my gym weirdos at? šŸ™‹ā€ā™‚ļø

Why limit yourself to stiff, predictable movement when your body is designed for so much more?

Mobility. Strength. Spinal sequencing. Timing. Rhythm. Balance. Isometrics. Developmental patterns. Full-body organization.

This is a core workout, even if it does not look like the kind you usually see on the gym floor.

After 25 years of studying strength training, martial arts, dance, Qigong, mobility, corrective exercise, and all kinds of movement rabbit holes, one of my favorite things is combining everything into one giant movement playground.

The goal is not to make the exercise look complicated.

It is to teach the body how to coordinate more parts of itself, respond to more situations, and discover more options… in short, to be more fully alive!

That is why identifying with movement can be so liberating.

When your entire identity becomes ā€œI’m a runner,ā€ ā€œI’m a lifter,ā€ or ā€œI only do Pilates,ā€ an injury can suddenly take away not just your workout, but part of who you believe you are.

Movement gives you a bigger identity and opens up the possibility of exploring your full humanity.

You can crawl, lift, rotate, balance, dance, stabilize, breathe, improvise, and play.

Current movement diet?

Omnivore.

ā€œI’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to lose a few pounds… but that’s not the most important thing.ā€

I hear some version of this almost every week.

And I think it points to something deeper.

Women have spent a lifetime receiving messages that their appearance matters. In many ways, they’ve been rewarded for looking good. So they’re not crazy for caring about it.

At the same time, they know there’s so much more to life than what they see in the mirror.

I don’t buy the idea that wanting to feel proud of your body is vanity.

There’s a difference between making your appearance your identity…

…and taking pride in caring for yourself.

The women who make the biggest transformations rarely obsess over the mirror.

Instead, they start celebrating things like:

• Feeling stronger
• Sleeping better
• Having more energy
• Feeling confident in their own skin

Ironically, that’s often when their body starts changing too.

Trying to exercise only to change your appearance is a little like driving while staring in the rear-view mirror.

Your body is feedback.

It shouldn’t be your compass.

šŸ‘‡ I’m curious…

Addiction is a ruthless teacher.

For those we haven’t met yet, I’m Jonathan. I’m a holistic performance coach, and my work is deeply personal.

I’m approaching 24 years clean. In my early twenties, addiction was running my life. What helped me rebuild wasn’t willpower. It was movement, meditation, and time in nature. Strength training became a way to feel my body instead of escaping it. That path of recovery turned into my life’s work: helping other people feel safe, strong, and at home in themselves.

Over time, I found myself working primarily with high-performing women: academics, artists, executives, mothers holding entire ecosystems together.

I was raised by my mother and three sisters, and let’s just say I’m very comfortable in my feminine. This may be part of why high-performing women trust me with parts of themselves they don’t share with anyone else.

The women I work with are incredibly capable. Often so capable that softening and receiving support feels foreign, even unsafe. Years of overriding their body’s signals can erode inner trust, even when outwardly they’re leading at the highest levels.

My approach blends strength training, nervous system regulation, Qigong, healing touch, and deep inquiry. It’s about building both inner and outer strength without burning out in the process.

Moving from ā€œwired and tiredā€ to ā€œenergized and relaxedā€!

And that changes everything. taken in Chelsea, Manhattan by @bmn.coach

Even in winter, there’s a kind of summer heat in the studio!

The kind of heat that comes from focus, discipline, and shared effort. ā˜€ļøā„ļø

Leading the @balletsjazzmontreal dancers move through strength work, partner drills, and athletic conditioning is a reminder that dance isn’t just art. It’s power. It’s precision. It’s empathy in motion.

It’s a conversation between bodies, equal parts trust, technique, and instinct. Pull-ups, goblet squats, directional changes…

In each rep there’s artistry. In each moment of connection, there’s intelligence. In each breath, there’s a story being written.

These dancers don’t just perform. They embody: presence, resilience, and a level of physical mastery most people never witness up close. It’s a privilege to support this kind of work. šŸ™šŸ¼

Thank you to @alexandra_damiani for the opportunity to support these artist athletes & for shooting this footage of our Primal Energy class.
