September is Alopecia Awareness Month!

Alopecia is an autoimmune disease where your body attacks your hair. There are three types. I have Alopecia Universalis which means I don’t have hair anywhere.

A few things to know:
1. It’s not contagious
2. It doesn’t hurt
3. Yes, I’m a girl
4. It’s ok to ask me questions. I’d rather you do that than stare. by @boldspots

For every @ignitewithusstl show, they choose a service partner. They chose @cwhl_org for the run of the show Hairspray. CWHL is near and dear to our hearts, as Liney receives a beautiful wig from them each year.

During the curtain speech, Liney was able to speak to the audience regarding CWHL. We collected hair accessories during the run of the show and will be mailing them to CWHL this week to be added to wig boxes they send to recipients.

If you need a place to donate your hair look no further than CWHL. They are amazing to work with and put so much love and care into helping their recipients. 🧑🏻‍🦲💖🎀💇‍♀️ by @boldspots

@mollytuttle spoiled @maggie__rae__ and I on Friday night when she played in St. Louis. I was lucky to get to be a VIP and she dedicated the song Crooked Tree to Maggie and I. I met Molly in 2023 @naaf_alopecia conference and love her music.

She wrote the song Crooked Tree about having Alopecia, but it works for anyone that feels a little different.
Here are some of my favorite lyrics:

What a way to wrap up Alopecia Areata Awareness Month! The first official celebration of BOLD spots day kicked off.
Liney worked with her school to spread awareness by talking about Alopecia on the morning announcements, displaying posters, and handing out bracelets. Thank you to the @ecusd7 staff who helped her see this through.
Our amazing dermatologist and her staff at @distinctive.dermatology helped us celebrate by wearing bracelets.
She ended the night by sharing about Alopecia with some of her favorite performance teammates @ignitewithusstl One of the things she shared about was the importance of community and today was the perfect example of just that.
