What started with Jassy and a little idea in 2024 has grown into a community that’s become so much bigger than a book club. And now, Boozy Bookwormz is growing again!

The one who started it all and somehow turned a book club idea into a whole community of bookish women, friendships, events, crafts, conversations and questionable amounts of yapping.

Our horror-loving, dark fantasy-reading, gothic-book-obsessed girl who came along for the bookish chaos and has become such an important part of keeping this little community going.

Our newest addition to the admin crew! Cozy mysteries, low-stakes fantasy, plants, snakes, and a very specific Slytherin-with-Hufflepuff-energy kind of girl. We’re so excited to officially have her behind the scenes with us!

Three readers. Three personalities. Three very different TBRs. And one shared love for books, friendship and creating a space where women can come together and just be themselves.

• Spooky season has officially entered the chat 👻

For October, we’re getting creepy with Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak! A mysterious little boy, disturbing drawings, buried secrets and a whole lot of questions make this the perfect pick for our Spooky theme.

To pick our book this month we played a fun game of “We’re not reading” while picking out from a cup and the last one left was this one which was recommended by our founder, @honey.hisses!

Now pour yourself a drink, turn on the Halloween vibes and let’s see what’s hiding between the pages…🖼️🩸

• A little sports romance, a proposal trope and a whole lot of women supporting women!

For our September sports romance month, we picked The Proposal Play by @laurenblakelybooks, and the proposal trope felt extra special as we celebrated our co-admin, @macies__ and her recent engagement! Because what better way to celebrate one of our own than by gathering the girls, sharing a good book and reminding each other that women supporting women will ALWAYS be our favorite thing!

We also got spoiled with the sweetest goodies from Lauren Blakely herself, including bookmarks, stickers and autographed book plates! Thank you so much to Lauren and her team, @kpsimmon, for making this meeting even more special! We absolutely loved this book and can’t wait to read more!

Also, a huge thank you to @vibeinfresno, our host for the evening, for welcoming our Boozy Bookwormz ladies and making us feel right at home. If you’re looking for a new sports bar to check out, show them some love!

Another meeting in the books, another memory made and another reminder that this community is about so much more than the stories we read. it’s about the friendships we build, the milestones we celebrate and the way we continue to show up for one another.

• May was anything but innocent with the Boozy Bookwormz 🔪🍷📚

For Murder May, we traded our books for alibis, secrets, suspicious side-eyes and some serious Housewives-level drama with The Really Desperate Housewives!

And let us just say… the girls understood the assignment. Every single one of our book club ladies showed up and SHOWED OUT as their characters and watching everyone get into their roles made the night even more fun!

We were also so excited to have the two admins from @ratedrforromance_ join us for the night! We absolutely love collaborating with them and getting to bring our bookish communities together. There’s nothing better than creating these fun, chaotic memories with fellow book lovers!

But the biggest plot twist of the night? Our very own co-admin @babewithaplan_ was hiding something BIG behind her character, Kristie aka Caroline because SHE was the killer!

It was such a fun night filled with laughs, drama, a little bit of chaos and so many unforgettable memories. We’re beyond thankful for this incredible community of women who continue to show up, have fun, support each other and make Boozy Bookwormz what it is.

Here’s to the friendships, the collaborations, the memories and the absolute chaos that comes with being a Boozy Bookworm 🥂📚💕

• September’s theme is Sports Romance and in honor of our newly engaged co-admin, @macies__, we gave her one very important assignment: pick a sports romance book with a proposal/marriage trope!

And she understood the assignment!

Our September read is The Proposal Play by Lauren Blakely 🏒💜

Meet Maeve and Asher—best friends who find themselves in a very unexpected situation after a trip to Vegas leaves them married. When their wedding photos go viral, they decide to keep up the appearance of being a happily married couple while navigating their careers, hockey season and their suddenly complicated friendship.

With friends-to-lovers, brother’s best friend, marriage of convenience, forced proximity, a marriage pact and pro hockey, this one has all the ingredients for a fun September discussion!

Some of our girls are planning to hit up a Fresno State game this month to stick with the months theme so maybe you’ll catch us there!

• Baby’s first book club 🩵🍼

For the month of August, we traded our usual book club night for something extra special—celebrating @mari_miranda91 and the little Bookworm who will soon be joining her family.

Our theme was “any book with the word BABY in the title,” and after drawing a name from our book bag, Mari’s pick landed on Baby Teeth by @zoje.stage_author, recommended by @aracelielisam!

And what a pick it was… 👀

Baby Teeth gave us Hanna and Suzette, a mother-daughter relationship that is anything but ordinary and SO much to unpack during our discussion. From the complicated family dynamics to the shifting perspectives and all the moments that had us questioning who we could trust, this book definitely kept us talking!

We may have been celebrating a real-life baby shower while discussing one of the most unsettling books about motherhood, but honestly… the contrast was kind perfect 😂

We’re so excited for you, Mari, and for the newest little Bookworm joining the family! We know you’re nervous entering this new era of your life but i hope you know you have so much love and support! It takes a village and you can count on us! Baby boy is already so loved and has no clue yet how many crazy bookish aunties he has already and we can’t wait to meet him!

This shower was a group collaboration and it was amazing! Even the ladies who couldn’t make it still pitched in to help and that just speaks volumes on the community we’ve built and it makes our hearts so happy! Also shout out to our decorating committee @aracelielisam & @yadi03j! We appreciate you both so much and Ari, thank you for being such a lovely host. This group of women is everything! Cheers to another month of pages, pours & sisterhood 🩵🥂✨

• Our Boozy Bookwormz crew had the BEST time this weekend decorating Mini Bookshelves, hosted by the incredibly talented @pixiedustandbirch!

We spent the afternoon painting, creating, adding all the tiny bookish details and somehow turning little wooden shelves into the cutest miniature masterpieces.

And this meetup was extra special because we even had one of the lovely ladies from @ratedrforromance_ join us! We LOVE getting to connect with other book clubs, make new bookish friends and share the love of reading beyond our own little corner of the bookish world. There’s just something about getting together with your bookish besties, getting crafty and laughing the afternoon away.

A huge thank you to Pixie Dust & Birch for driving out and hosting such a fun afternoon and giving us the perfect excuse to get creative together! And also a huge thank you to @macies__ for opening up her beautiful home to us!

• Baby’s first… psychological thriller 🍼

This month’s theme is “Baby’s 1st Bookclub” and there’s no better reason than celebrating one of our very own—our mama-to-be, @mari_miranda91! 🤍

To make this month extra special, we filled a bag with member recommendations of books with the word ‘Baby’ in the title and Mari got to draw our August read at random.

The lucky pick? Baby Teeth by Zoje Stage (recommended by @aracelielisam!) Let’s just say….this probably isn’t the parenting guide Mari had in mind 😅

• 🚨 CASE CLOSED. 🚨

July’s Summer Slammer has officially been solved. 🔎🍷

This month featured American Predator by Maureen Callahan and after an evening full of true crime discussions, theories, sipping tea and confessions, we’re happy to report the only thing guilty here was our reading habits.

No Boozy Bookwormz meeting would be complete without a little fun. Every suspect was booked for their biggest bookish offense—from abandoning their TBRs and dog-earing pages to judging books by their covers and believing “just one more chapter.”

Thank you to everyone who came out, laughed, debated and made another meeting unforgettable. We can’t wait to see what August brings.

Also, a huge shout out to @islatealounge for hosting us and being the best host! The drinks and food were to die for!
