🫨Exciting news yall!!!🫨I’m honored to be featured in @createmagazine’s 2026 Women’s Issue (no.56). My Emergence series has been so meaningful to me as a way to explore my own personal journey, as well as hopefully reflect others who resonate with feeling hidden, either by choice or not. It’s incredibly affirming to have this work selected from over 1,000 submissions and showcased alongside all of these talented female artists. It’s moments like these that keep me going on hard days☀️

I highly recommend grabbing acopy of this gorgeous publication so you can spend some high-quality time away from your phone to be inspired and learn from this incredible selection of artists. You can buy yours at my profile 🔗 and there is also a digital version on the Create! website🤳

Thank you to juror @soniabblondon and the team at @createmagazine for including me and for shining a bright light on women artists✨✨✨ taken in Dallas, Texas by @breesmithart

My new finger paintings are now on view at @umbrellagallery with @arthousedallas through November 21🥳

These pieces are part of my Emergence series, through which I use fashionable astronauts to explore the experience of merging the inner self with the outer world. I didn’t use any brushes for the astronauts, but instead used only my fingers to blend and mix the paint directly on the canvas.

I’d be honored if you stopped by to see these new works and the work of the other 13 amazing artists I’m honored to share this space with!

👋If you’d like to attend the celebration and artist showcase event on Nov 2 you can get more info and grab tickets in my profile link.

🖼️You can shop the exhibition online as well, this link is also is in my bio!

I also wanted to say how truly grateful I am to those of you who follow along with my work, ask me about my work (my love language), and encourage me to make and share more. It’s hard!!! Having y’all in my corner cheering me on means more than I can say, and is a big reason new work keeps being made, even when it’s tough🫶 taken in Aloft Dallas Downtown by @breesmithart

I’m so excited to announce that I have a collection of work available @pxpcontemporary as part of their anniversary exhibition, Faces & Figures III🥳

The pieces in this collection are my newest oil finger-paintings, created without using any brushes for the central figures. I mix the paint directly on the canvases with my fingers, which evokes the joyful and connected childhood experience of finger painting, but with a more refined result😉

My newest piece, “Face it together,” features 2 astronaut besties in fashionable suits evocative of 1960s couture and color palettes of the period.

I hope you enjoy this collection which includes 2 large and 2 medium-sized pieces - scroll for details on each piece!

Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to see additional angles or videos - hit the link in my bio to collect 🏃‍♀️💨 by @breesmithart

The previously nicknamed ✨Astro Besties✨ are facing the unknown future together, while flawlessly-suited, of course.

Copy, moon joy🦋🌖

I am here for all of the space hype between Project Hail Mary and Artemis II🚀👏 I hadn’t been inspired to paint astronauts for a while but the spark is BACK YALL. I went to see PHM in Alaska during the IMAX pre-release and got my helmet popcorn bucket, obviously. I’m currently listening to the audiobook while I paint because it’s $6 on Audible and it’s so, so good yall. I had so many science questions during the movie and I sure am getting them answered😅 (Ryan Gosling was the *perfect* casting choice to fit Ryland Grace’s humor).

I started this mural in my garage last fall and have been chipping away at it as free Saturdays and the weather permits. She’s on pause again while I finish up some new astronaut paintings (!!!) but here’s where I’m at so far. My alien butterfly on an alien world🦋 At least my neighbors don’t think I’ve lost my mind anymore having a bunch of doodles on my wall for months😆

It’s a strange, surreal, and often sad world we’re experiencing these days but I’m resolved to keep creating. I keep reminding myself that ✨creation is the opposite of destruction✨. In -what feels like- the onslaught of death and pain and grief, putting beautiful things into the world feels like pushing back the darkness a little bit. And every little bit helps🌅 taken in Carrollton, Texas by @breesmithart

When the sky turns colors it feels like a divine painting gifted to the whole world. Seeing a sunrise or sunset through an airplane window is like seeing these sky paintings through a special viewfinder just for you.

I started flying pretty consistently at a young age because my dad lived in Maryland. Decades later, I try to visit new places as much as time and money allow, and seeing golden glows through this personal portal still takes my breath away.

I captured this moment landing in Dallas coming home from a trip to Chicago. I’d never been, and honestly it pretty much blew me away. Art, architecture, parks, pizza - all so good. I hope to return someday and explore more. Would love to do a mural there - anyone got a wall??😁

2025: I started a lot of things, and finished some😉

Reflecting back on this year’s work I was once again tempted to feel disappointed at what I am leaving unfinished in 2025…….but my life is rarely so clean and orderly that everything gets done by December 31🤪

This year I’m most grateful for how much peace I’ve had - my word and prayer for the year. I have much to celebrate, and the most precious of those things aren’t accomplishments or material. They are personal and spiritual growth, moving closer to a healthy balance of all the human requirements with my personal interests, and priorities and pace in better calibration.

Maybe I’m finally understanding and accepting that art made in the cracks in my life isn’t less important or meaningful because it lacks my desired velocity and formality. I should treasure this work more because of its scarcity.

Cheers to a new year y’all🥂 Thank you for being here an for your support💕 taken in Dallas, Texas by @breesmithart

Chronic pain has taught me many things*

One of those things is that I need to focus more on the here and now instead of always looking ahead, because on any given day I can be bedridden, and the clock is constantly counting down to my next surgery. My last recovery was a year, but honestly it took probably more like 2 before I could do most regular physical things. I dropped a fork at a fancy work event once and was mortified I couldn’t bend over to pick it up🙈. I also wore slip on shoes for those 2 years because tying laces was SO HARD. (Pain has also taught me humility, but that’s a subject for another day.)

All this to say, I’ve kicked off a new mini series** that I’m using to savor my most precious memories and moments that I’ve experienced and captured. So you may be thinking this is kind of contrary to my main body of work that I use to imagine the future, and you’d be right. But it’s just something I need to do. Astronauts and space aren’t going anywhere😉
