I’ve shared some pretty controversial opinions on this app, but apparently not washing my chicken is where y’all draw the line. 🤪

ANYWHO, here I am with another “recipe” except it’s literally so quick and easy that I feel like calling it a recipe is a stretch. But as a busy mom of four, these are the kinds of meals we’re surviving on over here. 😅

I became a mom at 19, and now at 29, I have four kids. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that I wouldn’t trade this life for anything.

I feel like we’re constantly hearing about all the reasons NOT to have more kids. They’re expensive, they’re exhausting, you’ll never have time for yourself again. And sure, some of those things are true. But I wish we spent just as much time talking about how incredible it can be, too. I know a big family isn’t everyone’s dream, and that’s okay. But it was mine. And getting to actually live the life I once dreamed about is something I’ll never take for granted.

Nothing like finally finding the motivation to clean your embarrassingly messy bathroom just for your husband to decide RIGHT THEN that he desperately needs his razor. And instead of picking up a cleaning product, he chose to pick a fight with me for entertainment. 🥰

We spend so much time teaching our daughters how to be safe. Watch your drink. Stay with your friends. Text me when you get there. Don’t walk alone. Trust your gut. Be aware of your surroundings. But I’m also raising a son, and part of raising him is teaching him why women have had to learn all of those things in the first place.

I had an age appropriate conversation with my nine year old about the Cornell 57, and he understood the problem. He understood that women are not objects. That someone’s body is not an invitation. That being in a group does not excuse cruelty. That “everyone else was doing it” is not a defense. And that staying silent while someone is being degraded still matters.

So yeah, I’m angry. Because if a nine year old can understand basic human decency, respect and consent, grown men can too. I will always teach my daughters how to protect themselves, but I refuse to stop there. I’m raising my son to be someone they never need protection from.

One whole year of Avery Eleanor 🩷🎀

I knew this day was coming. I knew I’d be so excited to watch you grow, and I knew it would hurt knowing every “first” with you is also my last. But man… it hurts more than I expected.

You came into this family as the baby, but with a personality big enough to make sure we all KNOW you’re here. You are sweet and loving and hilarious. You say “hi,” “buh-bye,” “chick chick,” point at everything and yell “THIS!” because you need to know what it is. You sign “more” the second your food is gone, and if you hear silverware hit a plate or a bag of chips open from three rooms away, here you come speed crawling yelling “EAT!” because obviously whatever we have is also yours.

You are the perfect last piece of our family. The baby I wish I could keep little forever and the little girl I cannot wait to watch grow.

Happy first birthday, Avery Eleanor. Being your mama is one of the greatest privileges of my life. I’d live this first year with you a thousand times over if I could. 🩷🎀 by @briannamhooks

If you haven’t heard of @vinted yet, it’s basically an online marketplace where you can buy and sell secondhand clothes, shoes, accessories and more without all the usual resale hassle AND no seller fees!
