Spring is here and the fridges need restocking 🌱 We put together a summer shopping list of our most-needed items, plus a reminder of how to donate properly so we can keep operating smoothly.

Fresh food goes in the fridge. Canned and boxed goods go in the pantry. No dumping. Label and date your prepared meals. Want to get more involved? Visit our website for more resources, link in bio. by @buffalocommunityfridge

Here’s a full map of community fridges across the City of Buffalo.

Take what you need, leave what you can, and help keep each space clean. ✌️ ❤️ 🥦

We’re grateful for all the new volunteers ready to help keep Buffalo’s fridges running. As our network grows, remember: consistency is key. There are systems in place to keep every fridge safe, stocked, and sustainable.

If you’ve been to our Ferry fridge lately, you’ve seen it boarded up. After five years of service, repeated damage, and misuse, our hosts and team made the tough call to close the East Ferry Community Fridge. But the work doesn’t stop here. The fridge and shelter are moving to @buffalolovefridge this week and donations now support nearby fridge sites like Merriweather Library and the Resource Council of WNY.

There are 9 community fridges across Buffalo, all powered by neighbors like you. The need is high: if you meet someone at a fridge, encourage them to take what they need and leave some for others. We can’t always guarantee food will be in our fridges as it goes quick so small donations more often go a long way ❤️

Swipe to learn how you can help keep Buffalo’s fridges open, safe, and supported. by @buffalocommunityfridge

Community Update and Market Recap:

**Markets are from 1 pm - 4 pm!
**coloredgirlsbiketoo@gmail.com
**not written or designed by AI.

Yesterday’s People’s Free Market was another beautiful day of community care, collective action, and food justice! Swipe through for some photos from yesterday’s market.

We’re also excited to welcome some new community partners to The People’s Free Market: @eastsidestewards, @bringjoy716 and a local farm in Akron, New York!

Shout out to all of our volunteers:
@jarralboyd - thanks for setting up and leading yesterday
@buffaloblackstudy
@chet.upstandup
@pat (please tag yourself)

We are excited to continue growing this initiative alongside other Black organizations that are advancing food justice and building community on the East Side of Buffalo.

This market is powered by the people and for the people. It is important to us that our initiatives do not perpetuate white supremacy culture through individualist practices, but instead center African principles and culture through collective action, shared resources, and community care, bringing us closer to a more unified Black Buffalo.

Food justice is collective work, and we are grateful to continue building with organizations and community members who share that commitment.

Shoutout to @bringjoy716 for capturing these photos from yesterday’s market and for all of your support and help in making the day possible!

Thank you to all of our volunteers and partners for helping make another successful market possible! ❤️

@buffalocommunityfridge
@gwmgbflo
@buffalofoodnotbombs

How you can help:

We are in desperate need of fresh fruits and vegetables so that we can offer more of the healthy, fresh food options that our community needs and deserves.

We are also seeking support to help stock our pantry and keep our market shelves and tables filled.

We also need first aid products and hygiene products!

We don’t have a lot of funding, but your support can make a real difference. By donating fresh produce, pantry staples, or other resources, you’re not only supporting Colored Girls Bike Too—you’re supporting the East Side of Buffalo, a community that continues to experience significant barriers to healthy, affordable food access.

If you are a farmer, food producer, community organization, business, or individual interested in supporting our market, please DM us or email coloredgirlsbiketoo@gmail.com.

Let’s keep building a food system where our communities have access to fresh, nutritious, and culturally meaningful food. 🌱✊🏾
