Thursday at OZ Trails Bikepark - we’re gonna ride the park then spend the evening hanging out. I’ll show “Searching for Supercrust” my film about crossing Europe’s largest glacier on Fatbikes, do a bit of a deep dive and open things up for questions! I’ve seen some pretty crazy shit out of airplane windows in my life. Possibly some of the most other worldly views have come from that tiny oval window that separates me from the unimaginable outside world. Yet no matter how in AWE I have been looking outside I am constantly reminded of how desensitized I have become to this beauty…

The wifi doesn’t work, the seat sucks, the food is terrible and or whatever tiny thing we choose to complain about or be irritated by on flights is always in stark contrast to me against this wild beauty of what often lies just outside that window. I guess what im saying was at one point - that view- was our only entertainment. We used to fly .. Just to see it!

in closure… book a window seat. Stare long enough to take notice of the small things, something unique . Maybe try not to distract yourself for a moment and get caught up for just a second in the beauty of flight. by @burkgnar

The Utah backcountry development route or ‘BDR’ as it’s known, was designed for motorcyclists to be able to hop on dirt roads and explore some of the wilder places Utah has to offer. The route goes from north to south through some of the most insanely beautiful terrain in Utah. My friend @ns_innovative did a bit of revamping for human powered bikes and invited a bunch of homies to come try it out which is not the sort of activity I’m about to say no to. Over the next 10 days we cruised through everything from borderline alpine meadows up in the Wasatch, Uinta, and La Sal ranges to the hot, dry desert basins in the Valley of the Gods & Monument Valley. Proofing Nate’s route went great, everyone had a blast, and we all learned just how crucial Mavericks gas station mochaccinos are when it’s 97 degrees out and you have 50 miles to go with no shade.

14 years ago this kid changed my life in ways I couldn’t possibly fathom. He gave me a chance to be a Dad and ultimately experience something I never got to as a kid. These memories with my son have become the bedrock of my joy and the most important reflection point for what and who I aspire to make proud. Luckily .. he’s not on social media, so he won’t see this :) .. hopefully he’s catching a lizard or surfing or playing sports of making some ridiculous joke about his younger brother or calling me on my BS or something more important than being online. Regardless these little seemingly insignificant tributes I feel compelled to make because first and foremost he knows how much I love him, and this little soapbox of mine is just a way to share how grateful to this kid, now man, for being the best reflection of what I care about most.

When @chrisburkard calls, you don’t ask questions you just go.

A last-minute flight to Flagstaff turned into a float down the Colorado, launching from Lee’s Ferry with three guys I’d never met before. @alexsparks3 flew us in, @_ryanhill_ and @miron_golfman rounded out the crew, and by night one we were already swapping stories like old friends.

Two nights on the river. A few fish, wild horses, and more laughs than I can count. Shot it all on film.

Something about being in the canyon slows your head down. You see the bones of the land, feel the silence, and remember why we fight for places like this. Public land. Shared water. Wide-open freedom.

Still thinking about this one.

New Mexico road trip volume 1.

Ripping through the American West the last few days to show my family some of the places I grew up. Final destination is Las Cruces where my multiple generations on my Dads side come from… a few crucial stops along the way

Cuyama, Flagstaff, monument valley, 4 corners, Abiquiu, Taos …. And onward south.
