FIKA WITH BJARNE IS BACK! ☕️ 🍪

Starting this Sunday, October 18, at 9 AM MT / 5 PM Central Europe.

I’m so fired up to get this series going again. @fika_with_bjarne is something really special to me, and I can’t wait to share these next episodes with you.

After 15 years of filming people in the outdoors, I’ve often felt there was something missing. We see what people do, but how often do we really get to know who they are? Their stories, their struggles, and their lives beyond what we see on camera.

Another reason I started this series is that I feel our attention spans are getting shorter and shorter. Everything is so fast these days. I wanted to create something that invites us to slow down, focus, and actually sit down and enjoy watching something for more than five seconds.

In Sweden, fika is about slowing down, connect with others, sharing a coffee, listening, asking questions, and spending quality time together. I wanted to bring that feeling into filmmaking.

I spend a day with athletes and creators, doing what they love, hanging out, and having honest, deeper conversations about life. No big crew. Just people being people.

We already have plenty of episodes ready to go, featuring:
@rushsturges
@chrisburkard
@andy_best
@jimwmorrison
@galacticbrown
@tinaemelie
@kajzackrisson
@jonno_jacobs
@roninskis

And many more to come as we head into autumn and winter!

WHEN: One new episode every other Sunday, starting October 18.
WHERE: YouTube on the Bjarne_Salen channel

If you enjoy an episode, share it with a friend. Help us get a little more fika into people’s lives.

I truly believe the world would be a better place with more fika moments.

Thanks for being here. ❤️

Last month around the city on the Hasselblad 🎞️

So cool to meet @chrisburkard at his event with Sony last month and get to take a couple portraits of him on film.
I’ve joked that one of my goals is to be the ‘Chris Burkard of film photography’ since he’s someone who throws himself into the action of outdoor sports and travel instead of just being there to document it from the sidelines. I think my photography is starting to come together but my arctic surfing, canyon rafting, and long-distance mountain biking skills still have a long way to go 😅

For a long time, film felt intimidating.
I started photography on a Sony NEX-5, learning to trust my eye through an EVF seeing the image in real time, adjusting on the quick, understanding as things happened. That instant feedback shaped how I see and gave me confidence. I learned what sensors can and cannot do.
But film was different. Unforgiving. No safety net.
For years I told myself I’d get to it eventually.
Then I started seeing more people I look up to share their film work. Then something clicked. I finally took the plunge.
Fast forward to now, and it’s something I always want in my workflow. Personal or work. It forces me to trust what I know or don’t know. And somehow it’s brought the spark back in a way I didn’t expect.
These are portraits from the last two years on film. More of this coming soon.
