We practice the same community care rituals for our friends making and nurturing business babies.

Enjoy this little snippet of us showering @cynnycyn @shopcommonjoy with a celebration circle after a successful event at @westcoastcraft, with the same energy we would bring to a friend's baptism or dance recital. 🕺

All babies are welcome here, but Lola Kristen is most experienced at caring for these ones. 😅👵🐶

XOXO,
The Business Baby Sitters Club 😘

🌟 New core memory unlocked 🌟

Babysat for the very first time, under the supervision of @budbasaur and @jeffreylikesorange. 👯

This meant the world to me… 🥹When @myjesticles was getting close to Apollo’s due date in good ol’ 2020, I had just transitioned out of FT tech to prototype semi-retired living, and make more time for family.

That included plans to spend lots of QT with Jess in her first round as mama bear. I was so pumped because that was the dynamic my mom had with her sister, my ninang (godmother).

When I was born, my ninang stayed with us for a few months to help take care of me and my mom. I remember how much I adored that experience and was excited to recreate that with Jess, chosen family style. Buuut then Covid lockdown happened about 1 month after Apollo was born, and then Jess moved to LA to be closer to her fam.

So 2 years later, the time and opportunity had come to go full Tita mode. We swapped out our living room furniture for this teddy bear bounce house, basketball, lots of Kids Bop, and HAD A DAY. 🤡

I think about that last slide often.

The SF Bay Area has always been a place of possibility. But unfortunately the systems we exist in don’t always make it accessible for everyone to experience possibility.

What’s interesting is that yes, SF has been slower to rebuild post-pandemic. But I think it’s because we’re not settling for snapping back to the ways things were. That shit was broken.

We are witnessing our next opening for our community to shift the system into something healthier, and more sustainable. It’s my first time working on something that intersects with so many parts of who I am and what I value. It’s incredibly personal, and overwhelming at times.

And what’s been amazing through all the departures and destruction is witnessing who is still here.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to join a strong set of people who have been building foundational resources for us to really make sh*t happen. And meet even more people who also refuse to sit on the sidelines, waiting for change to happen.

We are not alone.

There is so much heart in this city. And through designing the next era of SF spirit, we are going to heal and grow together.

Creativity as a method to heal over and over again is something the 🇵🇭 community knows initimately.

It’ll take time. And it’s going to be hard and messy. But we are going to try. We are going after alllll the MF flowers. 🔥🌻🔥 taken in SOMA Pilipinas Filipino Cultural Heritage District by @by_knb

I noticed this month that almost every Mailbox question had a little elder care in it… whether it was front and center or eventually emerged as we got into the details.

@renna_dimes and I are both in a similar season of figuring out how to balance the care across generations while building. We’ve found more relief not going at it alone.

We’ll be at it again this week, working through our to-dos with the New Dimes community. Join us on Wednesday if you’d also like some company. 💗 by @by_knb

Mine has a few things like…
🔎 evaluating HELOC options for my dad (and talking him out of it lol)
📝 translating an annuity for my mom
🤓 learning how to make a grant program
🤝 onboarding a new tax strategist

Don’t really know how to do any of these (yet!). But I know I won’t have to go at it alone this season. Will be bringing all the things to the @new_dimes coworking sessions. 🤓

And we will also be out in the wild! Nurturing our energy with some wonderful people doing good stuff in the community this month:

💻 AI Data Centers Webinar by @michellekimkim
🌸 Flower Piano at Golden Gate Park’s Botanical Gardens

Meet House of Uncommon Grounds, our official coffee partner for our Kaiser Geary location 🎉☕

We spent the day tasting our way through their roasts, and Kuya @byjamesnicholas caught the whole thing. They were so generous with their time and knowledge, spending over 3 hours together!

Here’s just a few of the MANY reasons why we love them:
💚 also family-owned
💚 also on a mission to advocate for fair treatment and economic opportunity for coffee farmers
💚 also Bay Area-born and raised
💚 also cares about creating craft community experiences

Since it’s a fast-moving project, we are starting small and simple with a drip coffee setup. But we’ll def have some fun ideas as we settle in.

They’ll also be onsite with us on ✨opening day, Monday✨ to share their story and give out coffee samples!

Come taste, and tell us which roast we should keep on the menu for good. Your vote decides our coffee futureee. 🗳️
