It’s overwhelming how many former athletes I see undergo massive habitual changes as soon as they stop playing their sport.

You loved who you were when you were playing.
You were in the best shape of your life.
- Consistent
- Ambitious
- Disciplined
- Driven.

Then sport ends, and so much of that disappears with it. So now you reminisce about who you “used to be.”

But that person isn’t someone you used to be. That’s still you.
Sport was just the vehicle that gave you a reason to express those parts of yourself.

You don’t miss the sport. You miss what it gave you. And I don’t think the answer is to spend the rest of your life trying to recreate who you were - but instead pursue a version of yourself that brings those pieces of yourself back to light.

Build a life that makes you feel alive.
Find your next pursuit. by @cadinmaynard

I’ve been thinking a lot about life and opportunity.

How do I want mine to look?
What do I truly value?
What has held me back?

It keeps bringing me back to the idea of chasing and creating the life you dream of.
The life that YOU actually want to spend your life living.

Many of us, myself included, have lived and still live afraid to take action toward the opportunities we envision.

Afraid of failing.‹Afraid of what people will think.‹Afraid of leaving what’s comfortable.‹Afraid that maybe we’re wrong.

But you get one chance.

Identify what matters to you.
Identify what you believe in.
Identify the life you’ve always dreamed of.

And Chase It. by @cadinmaynard

Variability in any form is included to change the perception of a task therefore changing your capability to complete that task.

The individual needs to meet the increased demand which challenges their current capability.

If they successfully meet that demand, their capability and perception of their capability expands.

Not only do you physically improve, you cognitively notice that improvement.

Soon, the tasks that were once difficult become easier.

Training beyond outputs

Had a fantastic chat with my guy @cadinmaynard and I wanted to highlight his growth in S&C and his understanding of the deeper responsibilities we have as a coach

It’s really easy to get caught up in the numbers, outputs, and results that we forget we’re dealing with human beings in front of us with emotions, goals, and dreams

Tune in episode is live on all major platforms

Until next time

Uncertainty is a certainty for success.

You can embrace it, attack it, or let it consume you.

Training can be an avenue to practice this discomfort, if you allow it. by @cadinmaynard

Training should change more than your body.

The individuals i’ve seen get the best results have learned something about themselves in the process.

Their perception towards training and life has changed.
They carry themselves differently.
They challenge themselves and others.

In anything, what you believe influences your behavior. And that behavior changes what you believe is possible.

Training is an opportunity to change both. by @cadinmaynard

Your brain won’t let you express what it doesn’t trust.

Output requires more than just an engine.
It demands a system that can control the forces it wants to create.

The more force you create, the more you have to handle.

If you’re struggling to unlock more output, check your brakes. by @cadinmaynard

I’ve heard many people recently say they’ve always felt like they need to train for hours on end for their training to feel like it was quality.

That couldn’t be further from the truth.

Not only can excessive training lead to burnout and inconsistency, but it can also create more fatigue than benefit.

Training isn’t about how much work you can tolerate.
It’s about creating the right stimulus.

More isn’t automatically better. Sometimes it’s just more.

The goal isn’t always to leave the gym exhausted. But it is to always provide the stimulus needed to drive the desired adaptation. by @cadinmaynard

You are your greatest investment.

When you invest in yourself, every other investment has the potential to get better.

- Work
- Health
- Relationships
- Capability

So don’t just train to get through your session. Train like you’re investing in everything that comes after it.

If you’ve reached the point where training just feels like checking a box, you need a new perspective, a new opportunity to improve your investment. by @cadinmaynard

Strength isn’t about the number.‹It’s about what the number allows you to do.

If you’re strong but can’t understand why that strength isn’t helping you perform, there’s a reason for that.

Learn what your body prefers, what it needs, and how to make your strength usable.

Then watch how much more capable you become. by @cadinmaynard
