It’s ironic that one of the first times I watched you perform was as Mrs. Arbuthnot in Oscar Wilde’s “A Woman of No Importance.” We were barely 20 and I was captivated by how you inhabited a middle-aged woman in late 1800s London. There was dialect, physicality, but most of all an aliveness that shone through you. I couldn’t look away.

Your parent’s still talk about how your drive for performance was born with you. You did your first professional theatre gig at 4 years old and never looked back. It’s affirming to see you more in love with the craft than the day you started. Beyond that, you treat it as a duty. To care hard. To carry yourself in a way that makes those around you feel more creative and bold. To give back. To be better, to share in the wins and stand for more. To believe that storytelling can shift the needle in a largely broken world. You’re so cool, and an artist’s artist.

When the self tape for Hunting Matthew Nichols came in, you were immediately connected to the scenes. We filmed it late night at the eastcherry office. Your delivery was direct, there was a freedom to the choices you made, and I felt the love of your own brothers when you talked about Matthew. That was November 2023. Today, Hunting Matthew Nichols is in theatres across North America.

Filmmaking is the sum of its parts. It only works when each person contributes their humanity and unique creative language. Most of the time, it’s a slow, isolating, expensive & doubt-ridden process. I salute anyone who’s brave and patient enough to put a project into the world. All the love to the folks who made this film happen.

Mir, you work so hard in silence. I want to take a moment to acknowledge the noise this little film is making, and how exceptional you are in it. You’re a force from nature - raw, honest, uncompromising. Your love for your brother is the heartbeat of the film. It hurts the same every time I watch it. Since 2013, I’ve been beside you for (almost) every late night tape, rejection, raspberry break, doubt or burnout. You’re still the girl I knew back then. I’m so fucking proud of you.
