I learned Weightlifting at 13 years old, fell in love the first day. Quit every other sport I was playing. I’d wake up thinking about it. I spent days at school looking at the clock, waiting for class to end so I could run to the weight room. Late at night, I’d rehearse technique with a broomstick in front of a mirror.

As I progressed, I couldn’t wait for each competition. I daydreamed a lot about lifting. All I wanted was to spend every waking moment with a barbell.

Here I am years later, still feeling the exact same. Never fall out of love with Weightlifting.

My career started with Youth and Junior athletes only. I realized I couldn’t over complicate concepts or use complex cues. I had to learn how to simplify terms and keep instructions natural. Turns out it works for adults too - K.I.S.S.

“What is the one thing that makes a champion?” Love this question because I used to try and answer it in a single word. But I can’t. The answer is: a little of everything.

Champions don’t just have strength, or dedication, or a strong-mind, or programming, or coping skills, or a coach, or talent, or rest & recovery, or diet, or athletic maturity, or good technique, or stress management, or experience, or just lucky timing. They have all of these things.

We might make up for weaknesses here and there, but over time, athletes who work on all aspects of sport reach the top. So check your boxes athletes. There’s no magic. Every detail counts.
