Borb season 🤎

When the temps start dropping, leaves start falling, and feathers start fluffing, you know that borb season is upon us. While birds can go into borb mode anytime of year, they tend to do this more in the colder months to insulate and trap heat.

Summer sparkles ✨

While the summer months have flown by, it was a treat that this handsome beauty was around my backyard for most of them. He’s gone for now on his journey south and the Anna’s have happily regained control of all feeders, but I hope to see him next year! 💫

I haven’t posted in 10 weeks as life has been incredibly busy and I’ve had little time for social media. Thanks to those that reached out and said hi, I really appreciate it! I’ll try to get back to posting more in the months ahead. 🧡🧡🧡

My favorite summer singer 🧡

While the Black-headed Grosbeak is shy and I rarely get a good look at them, I was lucky this one was feeling generous and didn’t immediately take flight the second he saw me. I really love their long, whimsical song which I liken to a cross btwn an American Robin and Mariah Carey! This moment was at dusk in my backyard cherry tree. I didn’t love the sticks but you do what you can do! 🙆‍♀️📸

Sweet Sunday singer 🎶

On a brief warbler-searching outing in TX, this cutie grabbed my attention with a song that couldn’t be ignored. At first he was singing from dense tree cover and then he popped out on the treetop and I’m pretty sure he said “hey, look at me!” 😍✨

A sweet surprise 🌷

The beautiful tulip fields of Skagit Valley WA are not only breathtaking but they have a hidden bonus of sweet Savannah Sparrows that seem to dance through the colorful petals and stop briefly to sing or snack. They can be challenging to spot but I was thrilled to see some on my first visit to this beautiful place. 🌷✨

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mom’s today! I’m so grateful for every moment I had with my sweet mom and miss her every day. 💕💕💕

It happened! 🙌

After work tonight, I went to enjoy the Cedar river and saw a bunch of Violet-Green Swallows flying around. It had been raining all day and the bug buffet was open. I grabbed my camera and thought I’d give it a go! Not ideal conditions as it was raining, but I took about 50 shots and got a good one! 🙌

Always ready 🔥

Never a dull moment around the hummingbird feeders once this fierce visitor arrived recently. This male Rufous Hummingbird has been unrelenting around all 7 of my feeders. Usually moving constantly and dive bombing every bird…yes even chickadees, juncos, and finch — this one took a short break but still on high alert looking down at the action below him and planning his next attack. So pretty and so aggressive! 🙈
