Cap City Open 2025 is in the books!

We want to take a minute to thank all the volunteers who made this meet run smoothly. From weigh-ins to refs, marshals to loaders, check-ins to speakers, setup to break-down, we are proud and honored that so many people jumped in to lend a hand! A big shoutout to the @dcweightlfting Meet Planning Committee for planning and executing a stellar meet!

Special thanks goes to our home gym @petworthfitness for letting us commandeer the whole building for the weekend and to coach @mikey_and_gatsby_ for spending all day with us!

Thanks to our tech gurus @scott_gonzalez_ and @quinnzel.jane for a beautiful double-platform livestream and all things digital.

We’ve seen some amazing photos by @jeffreywjonesphotos, @luissaladbar, and @heeyoung.leem.

Thanks to our sponsors @districtperformancephysio, @celsiusofficial, @drinklmnt, @virusintl, and @eatstickyfingers, and to our vendors @timberpizzaco and @blackacresroastery.

Of course, we can’t forget the legendary @michaelichoi for passing the torch and guiding us. His dedication to promoting our sport all year long nationally and internationally is unmatched. We ❤️ you!

And thank you to all the athletes, coaches, and spectators who came out on Sunday. It was a full house, and we are grateful to have the opportunity to showcase all your hard work and passion for our sport. We raised over $2000 for @theblackplatformco_! The weightlifting community in the DMV is truly amazing, and we look forward to seeing you all at the next meet!

From all of us at @dcweightlifting, thank you! We’d love to hear from you with any feedback you have, so shoot us a message!

@pnxy and @dc_barbellclub at last Sunday’s @capcityopen

The bond between a coach and athlete in Olympic weightlifting is something unique—built on trust, focus, and countless hours of training. It was a privilege to follow these two throughout Sunday’s competition and watch that connection shine on the platform.

Athlete packages are in the works. 😊

Did you know that the Cap City Open supports other organizations every year? This year’s spectator fees will go to the @theblackplatformco_

“At The Black Platform Co., we’re redefining strength and representation in fitness and wellness. In a space where Black-owned brands are underrepresented, we stand as a symbol of empowerment and community.” - The Black Platform website, Who we are

Head shoulders knees and toes, knees and toes!

@districtperformancephysio will be at Cap City between 12PM-2PM! Make sure to stop by their table to “Ask the PT” and get a check up on your pesky back, knees, and shoulders. They can answer your questions about pain, performance, and mobility!

No sign ups needed.
