Cape Cod’s Leading Custom Builder

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Manifesting a Dream:🛟 A Cape Cod sanctuary brought to life.

Long before construction began, the homeowners imagined how they wanted to live on this quiet piece of land where woods meet marsh. Designed by SV Design and built by Cape Associates Inc., the home realizes its owners’ longtime dream through a highly coordinated process that began well before construction. Every decision, from the home’s linear form and moody cedar exterior to its graceful indoor-outdoor connections, responds to the site’s unique character and environmental constraints.

A successful renovation should feel effortless when it’s complete.

Featured in House Beautiful, this project involved a major transformation throughout the home. Here, we’re highlighting the exterior renovation and the way the grounds, facade, and waterfront setting now work together as one complete experience. In collaboration with @arielokin. We designed Paine’s Creek to look out over the marsh and dunes.

Distinct shingle clad volumes linked by an open bridge establish a clear connection to the surrounding Cape Cod landscape.

In 2020, Cape Associates built the This Old House Idea House, known as the “Cottage on the Cape,” in Eastham. Designed by Union Studio Architecture & Community Design, the shingle-style home paired classic Cape character with forward-thinking spaces, including an in-law apartment, maker’s workshop, home office, and flexible living areas.

Now, we’re back at this special home to build an addition. These progress photos capture the transformation from foundation and framing to the exterior form taking shape, thoughtfully connecting the new space with the original design.

It’s especially rewarding to return to a home we know so well and help it continue evolving with its owners

We approached this Provincetown project's exterior like an extra room that happens to be outside. New decking, strategic plant placement, and seating positioned to catch both morning coffee sun and evening wind-down light. The bones were already there from the 1890s build, we just made them work for how people actually want to use outdoor space now.
