It's been a hot minute since we've done a post, and this seems like as good a reason as any eh?

Cardtography is LIVE this weekend at the @signatures.ca By Hand wholesale show, as part of Toronto Market Week. We're at the International Centre here in Mississauga from Saturday until Tuesday.

For all my shop owners, this is your chance to get a spring order in and beat the rush! by @cardtographydesign

@oldhastingsmercantile_gallery was awesome enough to bring in a local selection of our papercut maps at the start of the year.

During our vacation getaway last week, we were in the region so we made sure to stop in and holy moly, were we ever blown away by this treasure!

These pics are just a small sampling of the "Lake Room", and the entire store is meticulously and proudly stocked and merchandised with everything you could ever need for gifts - or for yourself!

If you find yourself in the Bancroft region with an extra hour (or three) to spare, do yourself a huge favor and stop in to see the crew here. Maybe pick up a map or two? 😉

When you're a small business and your main retail base is in lake country, there's no such thing as a FULL vacation!

@the_cottage_havelock has a selection of awesome local lake maps in stock for the Havelock region, and we just had to stop in and check the store out for ourselves.

This is the classic Cottage Country one-stop supply shop, featuring an entire mini golf course on the grounds as well!

So easy to get to and with all sorts of amazing stuff, put it on your "must see" list the next time you're heading east on Highway 7!

We're spending the week up in the Havelock/Peterborough region, and we always try to take in some local coolness!

I'm a huge sucker for large-scale engineering and just general "how it's made" stuff, so we booked a mid-day cruise on the Peterborough Lift Lock boat tour.

This just blows the mind, to learn how the lock and canal system was devised and built over 87 years, connecting Georgian Bay all the way to Lake Ontario.

This quick time lapse of Lock 20 at Peterborough shows these original lock doors and gears in action. Just amazing.

It's so easy to forget that views like this are only a few hours away from our home base in London, Ontario.

After an absolute nutbar of a year so far, it was time to recharge our batteries a bit and take a week away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

I know I say this a lot, but more updates are coming, along with some big big news for Cardtography! Thanks for holding on and supporting our crazy little map business these last 8 years.

We downsized to a 5x10 booth for the @signatures.ca By Hand show this time around and so we got creative in building. We also wanted to make sure everything fit into one vehicle, no trailer rental required.

A couple of interior doors painted and strapped together, some floating shelves and new puffy stools from Jysk, carpet tiles for floor covering and iron pipe to build a little closet for coats and food storage.

So far, it's all coming up Milhouse and after Day One, we're really on a roll!

Let's gooooo Day Two!!

We spoke with hundreds of excited lake fans over five days, and immersed ourselves in some of the hottest and most talented artisans in Canada! It's always an honor to be a part of this crowd, and can't wait to do it again.

Today was the start of "round up everything for the @ooak_toronto booth" and first order of business was to pull together every possible map we could find. What you're looking at here is nearly 700 maps (!!!!!) spanning the breadth of the entire country, all packaged and ready to go!

We're headed into Toronto on Wednesday, just in time to beat the Swifties, and we'll be ready for doors open on Thursday, November 21!

Stop by booth P20 and check out the updated assortment, chances are we've got just the map for you!

Earlier this year, we sat down and spent some time evaluating our retail packaging. We wanted to try and answer the question "what does a customer need to know about our product and business once they leave the sale interaction?"

A sale interaction for us can be:
1) in person, at a show;
2) shopping our product at a retailer, on a shelf or in a bin;
3) shopping online, through our website, or;
4) communicating through DM or email with us directly.

All of these opportunities give us different ways to communicate with our customers, but let's be real - once you make a purchase and leave an interaction, do you remember all the little details that the maker or salesperson told you about? Or are you thinking about the next stop on your trip, the emails waiting for you, your doctor's appointment in 30 minutes, etc?

We came up with this fun insert that goes in each map we sell, regardless of sales channel! We get to remind the customer about the dimensions of their map for framing, we get to tell a fun little story about our Memory Marker stickers, and let them know that we can make a map of their favourite place as custom!

Our new packaging inserts are going live for @ooak_toronto in... 2 weeks?! Omg!

What do you think of this new addition?
