Feels sooo surreal…
Woke up this morning and yup Im a black belt! Promoted last night by my Mentor and Professor @checkmat_manila Manny Jimenez.

Still trying to sink in this moment.. Black Belt! Wow!
It never occurred to me that I will be a brown belt (2021) let alone a black belt (2025) In general, never thought that I’ll be here right now. I just wanted to try it out back then (2010). Something different from the usual gym activities and now 15 years later… Still here! Still doing it! WOW!!!

Thank you to my teammates who without them, this wont be possible! They helped me to be a better martial artist and a better person! To My Mentor and Professor, Manny Jimenez for believing in me, for constantly beating me up and throwing me!
For the jokes and laughter of me being old and his tito (uncle) lol
I am proud and honored to be under your lineage!

To My Dear Friends and Professors (who I still look up to) you guys shaped me! I am forever grateful

To The Boss Man @ajkeeponrollin thank you for the friendship and keeping me always looking fresh in my DXD gis 🥋

To Brian @brianthemassageguy my dear friend who never fails to fix my broken body! hahahaha see you and Mel soon!

And to My Family lots of Love , So Much ❤️ 😘

Experienced countless injuries, pains and bruises. I rested but quitting NEVER crossed my mind.

Before I would say to myself I wish I started earlier, younger..I guess even more physically capable. Now Im just glad I even started at all. I learned to appreciate the journey, the ups and downs the highs and lows of this so called Brazilian Jiujitsu.

The year 2011, I tied my white belt (even watched some youtube channels on how to tie the belt properly) LOL

Fast forward, 2021. Sooo now, here I am. At the age of 43,
Faixa Marrom (Brown Belt) of Professor Manny Jimenez!
Thank you so much Professor Manny for everything and to Professor Jeff and to the whole Checkmat Manila Team, you guys never made me feel I dont belong, instead made me feel I am part of Checkmat since day 1.

Still feels surreal. Unexplainable feeling.
Flowing of emotions.

Tried a light roast from Moch. Got it over the weekend at Kapecon. I've been leaning towards light to medium roast for my beans lately. Definitely a must try from @mochcoffeeroasters
