Tap In: Celine Taki๐ŸŒท Celine Taki is a 22-year-old senior at the UIC, originally from the northern suburbs with Syrian roots. Passionate about social justice and community organizing , she believes she was called to earth to create meaningful change. After attending her sisterโ€™s wedding in Syria and witnessing the growing humanitarian crisis, Celine was inspired to take action. She began by collecting food donations in Lebanon and distributing them to families in need in Syria. Now, she runs a small creative venture from her room, designing & selling hand-printed shirts and tote bags that blend Chicago streetwear aesthetics with traditional Syrian patterns. All profits go directly to her community in Syria, whether to provide food, bed mats, or other essential resources during times of siege. Celine works closely with her family & network in Suwayda, who helps distribute aid locally, and uses online currency platforms to transfer funds. Sheโ€™s also involved with social justice & community based collectives like Students for Justice in Palestine, @kha0s.co , and @florecer_chi , finding motivation in Chicagoโ€™s creative community. You can support Celineโ€™s mission by purchasing a shirt or tote, donating directly, letting her know about vending opportunities around the city or offering creative skills to help her expand her brand . โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€”โ€” I began this fundraiser last year with the goal of supporting Syrian families struggling with poverty and displacement. I was able to complete the first round of distributions in October. But in the past few months, the situation in Suwayda has gotten worse. Druze are being ethnically cleansed and murdered defending their land. While I had originally planned to travel to Syria this summer to personally distribute food care packages, the ongoing violence has made that impossible. In the meantime, the fundraiser will remain open. Thank you to everyone who has supported this cause and continues to support it. Your generosity means so much to me and those receiving the aid.
